I lve that the Jets win, but it sucks that they get no credit. The Colts didn't play Manning the entire game, The Bengals didn't play their starters. Who the F, cares?? The Jets won, and will show the same Bungles that they can do it again when it "counts"... At least the Jets won their last game at "Giants Stadium" Way to man-up G-men...
<spin> The Chargers are always regular season champs, and an early exit in the playoffs. Norv Turner turns into a pumpkin during the playoffs. </spin> Indy? We won't beat them.
Who cares what others think? I mean really. You have to get beyond that. It only makes it better if the Jets win the games they are not "favored" to. Let's put it this way - I did not choose to be a Jet fan, or continue to be one, in order to gain the approval of people I don't personally know and have no real reason to respect what they think and why. Why would you or anyone else? Yeah, there are certain people I respect their POV, and if they say something critical that sounds plausible, I have to wonder if they are right. But of course most people, even on tv and the media in general, don't know more and sometimes less than some of the posters here. They even disagree with each other many times, so how much are we supposed to care when they say something we don't like? I don't.
Herman Edward coached someone else's team to the playoffs in his first season as head coach. So did Eric Mangini. The #1 rushing attack and #1 rated defense is icing, but what happened last night is certainly not unprecedented, and it also isn't going to keep the people that romance the SOJ mantra from doing it if the Jets are one and done next weekend. The only thing that will kill the SOJs in their minds is a Super Bowl victory.
idk they just became the first team to make the playoffs despite 20 ints from the qb.i think the majority of the fans understand we are playing with house money now
The way they did it is nice, like I said. But Rex is still coaching largely a team that was assembled before he got here. The same people that were screaming SOJ when Herm's team flopped, the same people that were screaming SOJ last season and the season before, will be screaming SOJ if Rex can't build a perennial contender - and an eventual Super Bowl champion.
Mangini had a decent eye for talent, but the difference between Rex and Mangini is that Rex actually knows how to make that talent work for him, and how to get every last drop of goodness out of most, if not all of his players, whereas eventually Mangini will create a divide between his own.
No coach is infallible, Rex failed to get every last drop out of his players a number of times this year, and he has yet to be head coach for a single playoff game. I know everyone is feeling warm and fuzzy, I am certainly no exception, but I have to have some objectivity here - let's see Rex do something in the playoffs before we start calling him Mangenius.
Fair Enough, the post game locker room speach that TJ gave about Rex, and TJ giving the game ball to Rex, certainly makes me feel that this is a guy players want to play for, where as Mangini is a guy who can get on your nerves quickly.
All I want to say is congratulations. You guys have the best defense in the league and deserved to be in the playoffs. Yes, even though the colts laid down, you DESERVE to make it because the team fought hard for it. It is well-known I am a dolphins fan but I can always give credit where it is due and my team did not step up when they had to. Also, every fanbase has it's idiots and those are the ones I dislike. I will have no problem rooting for the Jets in the playoffs as they might turn out to be a great story story after all. As long as they stay humble, and hungry I will be able to root for them. I'm sure they learned their lesson from the beginning of the season. Anyways, congratulations Jet fans! See you next season!
SOJ circa 2002. Was a great game to watch though. They have a good shot against the Bengals next week and then who knows?
If you knew half as much about Jets fans as you appear to do about the Jets, you would realize most Jets fans are as bi-polar as it comes with wins as well as losses. Of course this team is still a work in progress. Nothing wrong with being excited and juiced about making the playoffs though. They have a shot, even if remote and if nothing else then our green QB and HC can get some much needed post-season experience. Win-win in my book.
IMO one more one and the season was a success in my mind. Obviously I'm all about making a Super Bowl Run, but if we beat the 'Gals again next weekend I will be proud of this team win or lose the following week.
Some people were saying at year long, cough cough- Playoffs or not this team was never the SOJ. When the blow that building up they should paint SOJ on it for symbolism.
