If nothing else, the article shows how an improvement out of the QB department alone could make this team pretty awesome.
Wow. Amazing turn around when you compare it with last year, especially the passing D. I remember our passing D was the biggest problem last year.
I can't comprehend how winning 5 of 6 to finish the season constitutes backing in? Did they change the meaning of backing in to the playoffs this year or am I missing something?
Man, imagine what the defense can do when they have a true pass rusher, get their Pro Bowl NT back, and get better depth in the LB corps? Rex is the freakin man.
talk about an amazing turn around, look at your avatar. Hey-ooooo. For real, though, this article did the best job of making clear not only how good we are, but how much we've improved (as a D)
for the exception of reporting only fact, that article was written by a 8th grader. The jokes weren't funny.
I honestly feel that there are two factors that make this defense the elite unit it is... 1.) Darrelle Revis - Without him, the blitzes wouldnt work nearly as well. Revis takes away the first option by himself. This allows the very few players that are not blitzing to focus on the secondary options. Its also very much like Belichick's theory of taking away the offense's best player. 2.) Rex Ryan - Other then Revis, I dont think it matters who he puts on the field. Gholston was on the gridiron for 4 games and we watched this defense dominate. Jenkins had been out since October and Pouha has stepped in and played tremendous ball. I believe Rex is a coach em up kind of guy, and can honestly put any player in the position to succeed. He also has some of the most intricate and exotic looking packages/blitzes that I have seen. He knows what part of the offense to attack, and he knows when to do it. Without Rex, we would be just a good defense. With Rex, we are the best.
but the facts presented more than made up for it. We all knew most of this info, but to see it all laid out there, especially with the 2008 comparisons...wow
i'm more than impressed with the quantum leap this defense made. Its goes to show how awful sutton and mangini were in implementing their scheme.
Our defense wasn't that bad last year most of the year to be fair. We were 8-3 at one point with one of the top run defenses in the league. They got blasted twice early in the season in points allowed against San Diego and then against Arizona (all in the second half), but the offense let us down a little more. The Denver game was ugly though. And the Bills game.
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!! I've been arguing with this shit all week!!! THEY DID NOT "BACK IN" . How do these writters not know what backing in means? Because they SUCK DICK. The JETS Won their last 2 games. Backing in is when you LOSE and yet still get in. We didn't We were OUT and Won our Way Back IN. The Media is just so fuking stupid. If they wanna argue teams "Laying down" til they're blue in their gizzard, fuk it. But that isn't Backing in and we did not Back in EOS.
