There is no doubt that winning build confidence. You have some great momentum going right now and it's going to be like pulling teeth to stop it.

50%. The only options are win or lose. One of those will happen. 1/2= 50%.

That's some quality logic and probability for you.

that's the one thing I've noticed about this team from week to week....Each week the confidence has grown and there have been results on the field....

I like you guys and gals. I saw you have a draft room. How many people get involved in that? I am no expert but I do well from time to time and love the competition.

So basically you are saying that there are no good or bad teams, everyone is the same. A game between the Rams and Colts would be a 50/50 flip of the coin?

The more I look at it the more I realize that this is not a good match up for the Colts at all. It's not as bad a match up as the Jets were for the Chargers but it's not good..

I looked at the 14 games in the 14-0 streak the Colts had and omitted everything after that. This neatly solves the "Colts rested their starters" and "Joe Flacco was injured" outliers which otherwise would have caused problems in the model of what might come.

The Colts had difficulty against 8 opponents of the 14 they faced during the streak, coming from behind to beat several of them and narrowly winning 5 other games. The 8 opponents they had trouble against were Jacksonville x2, Miami, San Francisco, New England, Baltimore and Houston x2.

I looked both at the teams involved and at the individual games to try to find common factors which might have lead to the Colts having difficulty against that particular group of opponents. This is what I came up with:

    1. 5 of the 8 opponents - being Jacksonville x2, Miami, New England and Baltimore, had good rushing attacks on the year, finishing in the top 12 in rushing. Note that just facing a good rushing opponent did not automatically spell trouble for the Colts, as they beat #2 Tennessee twice fairly handily.

    2. 4 of the 8 opponents - being New England, Houston x2 and Baltimore had good pass defenses on the year, finishing in the top 12 in pass defense. Note that just being a good pass defense did not do the trick, because #3 Denver was handled by the Colts fairly easily.

    3. 3 of the 8 opponents - being New England and Houston x2, had excellent passing offenses, finishing in the top 3 in passing. Note that being a good passing offense did not have any significant effect on the ability to beat the Colts because they beat up Arizona and Denver.

If you look at the sets of data in the streak it's hard not to think that the worst match up for the Colts would have been a team that runs the ball well and plays excellent pass defense. The closest they came to that in the regular season was Baltimore and they beat the Ravens 17-15, coming from behind with a FG halfway through the 4th quarter to do it. The Ravens are not in the same class as the Jets, either as a rushing offense or a pass defense.

I think the Jets have a much better chance to win this thing than people are giving them right now.

The Jets wouldn't be here if they didn't have shot. They don't just hand out AFCCG's to anyone. You're rolling right now and we have to find a way to stop that bus from driving on to Miami.
