thanks for that info! i guess it depends what kind of contract atogwe is offered...the rams may not match if the contract is out of their reach.

what do you think the jets would offer him?

Antrel Rolle isn't better then him but then again he plays for the worst defense in the NFL so that hurts his value a little. I say 4 years $24M with $10M guaranteed.

and do you think at that price tag the rams would be willing to bring him back?

i think the fact that he has played on the worst defense in the NFL makes him even more impressive....but from a contractual standpoint I agree with you

They want to pay him in the $5M a year range so if we can throw in a poison pill in his contract like the contract Curtis Martin signed with the Jets as a FA, yes I think that would be enough. Poison pill meaning if say he plays more then 8 games with the Rams it triggers a $7M bonus. Obviously that would be irrelevant to us because he wouldn't be playing for the Rams.

Also Turk the reason why I feel being on a terrible defense hurts him is because, similar to when Vilmas numbers in 2005 were inflated, he is getting alot more snaps then the average defense. He also is probably freelancing a bit more then normal trying to force turnovers, which he has been very successful at, but at the same time giving up some big plays since he gambles. At the end of the day I feel he is definitely an upgrade over Kerry Rhodes.

Not to break balls, you know this for a fact? I'd be interested in knowing how you know that. I'd like him on this team also.

...whole contract is guaranteed if he plays more than 4 games in the state of Missouri in one year in any year of the span of the contract...

Honestly where does this rumor come from? I've heard no where that the jets were interested in OJ Atogwe. Rex Ryan has a history of developing Safeties so i see more the jets using a 3rd or 4rd on a safety and picking up a undrafted FA to develop the S position. I rather keep or picks and get a playmaker on offense or a DL!

Without getting into any detail, does he know if they are interested in Antoine Bethea?

OK, no explanation necessary. I'd like this immensely. I'd rather draft offense first next month.

agreed....i think we need to look at WR, RB, and line depth on both sides of the ball..

if we can grab atogwe it gives the jets tremendous freedom to do as they need in the draft....for the first time in years it would allow us to address positions of need across the board and it would really take the team to the next level

From looking at his stats and watching his highlights i hope we get him. Hes a good tackler and totals a lot of tackles for a FS. Had 75 in 12 games this year. Only had 2 or 3 int and 2 or 3 FF but last i checked thats what kerry did too. Oh yea and hes not a pussy which is cool.

    Favre, too.

For Lito, you have to go back even further though.
