Goodbye and thanks TJ for all the effort and hard work you put in. Good luck in KC. We will remember you fondly.

I agree, as a second back a guy like that can have a long career but the beating that style of running takes will have an impact on staying healthly long term for a starter.

Those backs typically have 4 to 5 year careers not 10 to 12 year careers. I am wishing for an exception with Greene but we should get a good back to help carry the load and extent his effectiveness! I don't care if that guy is drafted or a guy like fargus. But we have no idea what Leon will be and need to secure the position.

1st post in this thread and need to say that I think in all of this TJ has stayed classy, just like last season when he sat out.
He hasn't been flashy, but always reliable and gave 100% - can't ask for more than that, Thanks TJ.
I have faith in the FO, but in an uncapped year, wonder what the F they are playing at?

I actually like Fargas, and think that behind a decent line will be very productive. It comes down to how banged up he is though.

A snip at what the NFL makes as a business.
So go put some cleats on and see how much you can make, ah yes your not an elite athlete thats made this tiny % to the promised land of Pro Football,
    At least envy is green.

He could stayed a Jet if he settled for 3 million for one year or maybe 6.5 for 2. He was pissed and now he's on a shitty team and will play behind a lousy offensive line and end his career on a bad note. We wanted him back at a reasonable price and he said no. Its his fault. Now he makes less and will rot in KC. Dumb ass athlete

That's an incredibly simplistic view of what it takes to play in the NFL. This ain't backyard football or Candy Land.

I do. $6mil is chump change. Using TJ, Shonn, and Leon would have been a potent combo and kept our running game churning all through playoff season. We still have no proven passing attack. We still don't know if Leon will be back in pro bowl form. $6Mil is fine for insurance.

We would have been better off paying the $3Mil and getting picks for him.

I hate this move. I will go on record as hating this move. I'd tell Tanny to his face I think this move will bite him in the ass.

    I hope I'm wrong. I really do.

TJ fell apart in the playoffs this season. Another year older means he likely falls apart sooner. Paying him $6 million means they'd want to run him into the ground, and I don't want a back I can't rely on at the end of the regular season, let alone the playoffs. He didn't want to come back to be a role player at a cheaper price. His pride killed that. We'll draft his replacement and be just fine with the ground game.

He hardly fell apart, not in regular season anyway. Had Greene had more carries AND Washington been there, he would have had a bit more zip in his stride.
I don't think money had anything to do with him not coming back to us. He was released and his pride/ego got damaged.....Wody could have offered him a 50% share and he wouldn't have come back (imo)

if it's chump change, I'm sure the Jets would have kept him if you called them and said you'd have paid the extra bonus to keep him. I mean obviously you have it if it is chump change.

JetBlue: So, we're going to make BADMOO pay for Jones' bonus now?
    Kramer: It's a write-off for them.
JetBlue: How is it a write-off?
Kramer: They just write it off.
    JetBlue: Write it off what?
Kramer: JetBlue all these big posters they write off everything.
JetBlue: You don't even know what a write-off is.
    Kramer: Do you?
    JetBlue: No, I don't.
Kramer: But they do - and they are the ones writing it off.

This is chump change we can use to sign a need on this team. Maybe a safety? We are set if Green and leon are here........I will worry once leon goes

jones will not come close to having the season he had with us last year in KC or if he remained a Jet. but i liked jones and respect him for what he did with us and the type of man he is with handling his contract last season. also for signing with KC over the patriots who showed a lot of interest in him.

hopefully one day we will have a thank you TJ day for his 3 years he spent with us probably the best of his career. Good luck to him with whatever he does next

There have only been a few successful ones since Riggins retired after the 1985 season.

Here are some white RBs who played after 1985-

Craig James- ran for 1227 yards in 1985

Rob Carpenter- retired after 1986 season; best season was probably 1981 when he ran for 822 yards for the Oilers and Giants

Larry Moriarty- killed the Jets in a 1984 game in Houston

Hokie Gajan- led league in rushing average in 1984 (6.0)

Pat Chaffey, Gill Fenerty, Travis Jervey, and Vance Mueller are some notable backups.

If we consider fullbacks, then the list expands quite a bit. Guys like Brad Muster, Jamie Mueller, Mike Alstott and Tommy Vardell are a few.

yeah but can you rely on greene? i think thats the only point some people are trying to make. i understand why they got rid of jones, but if it were me i would've brought him back for his last year.

i think he would've had a decent playoff appearance if he didn't have 330 carries last season. i would've loved for jones and wash to run in the first 3 quarters, then bring in greene in the 4th. that would've kept both greene and jones fresh for the playoffs. to me... and i guess a few others that's worth 6 million.
