I heard about the Jets getting Holmes for a fifth rounder last night and I couldn't believe it. IMHO the Jets, at least on paper prior to the draft, are the team to beat in the AFC East. The worst (for Patriot fans) part is that the Jet acquisitions are at the positions where the Pats need serious help. For piddly shit the Jets have picked up Holmes and Cromartie. Shit, I would have given up what the Jets gave up for both to just acquire one of them. That being said, short of a major injury to Sanchez, the Jets have to win the AFC East and/or the AFC Championship or they are just the SOJ. They clearly have the most talent in the division, now it is imperative that they do something with it. AFC runnerups is nothing. I've been observing this board for years and I feel confident in saying that should the Jets not overtake the Pats for the east title this year, there will be a mutiny of epic proportions. It's time to put up or shut up.
if we go out and shit the bed this year will all the acquisitions, we'll be the laughing stock. Somehow, though, i don't think that will happen.
Our success this season will depend on how ready Rex and company make the team during the offsesaon and training camp. With all this added talent, we need to go hell for leather and ensure that the team is ready to play by September.
lets not get too high of expectations. braylon edwards still needs to catch the ball. santonio holmes needs to get done with his 4 game suspension. someone needs to keep all the wrs happy, what about jerricho? sancheese needs to not throw 20 interceptions. tomlinson needs to be productive, green needs to play for a full season. the line needs to avoid injuries. revis needs to avoid injuries. the d line needs to play well. at least as well as last year, really better. jenkins needs to not get injured, which is a stretch for him. guys just need to be consistent for the long haul. while the team looked great in the post season they didnt look so great for the entire year. so i am not getting my hopes up too high at this point. and the fact that there are now quite a few guys that could possibly affect team chemistry. that is a major issue in the game of football. i look forward to the season but i think many on here are too overconfident right now.
Yeah, we need to win something. Because if we don't we're a stacked team that goes into the year a favourite and then does sweet fuck all. I believe it's called Charger syndrome.
Charges still had a great season they just lost to us in the post season. I wouldnt all them a bust or anything like that. It happens.
No, it just seems like every year they're favored to do well and they do. In the regular season. Plus any opportunity to post a pic of Philip Rivers looking like a douche nozzle I am going to take.
I don't think we will have this much collective "proven" talent next season as opposed to this upcoming year. We have too many players to resign and there are too many unknowns and question marks about the cap situation. To me it is not about the AFC East. Even though its only on paper, our roster compared to the Pats and Dolphins is significantly better. We are officially without a doubt the favorites in the AFC East. I EXPECT to win it without too much of a struggle. Anything short of a AFC championship game appearance would be disappointing and terrible because we improved on our talent yet took a step back. To me barring an abnormal amount of injuries to key players, I'm not settling for anything less then a Super Bowl appearance. I think with this team, our coaching staff the expectations are very high and rightfully so, so should ours. Super Bowl appearance or bust.
Totally agree. Anything less is obviously a step back. I wonder if the Vegas odds have changed? I was shocked to still the Pats and Bolts favoured ahead of the Jets.
I Agree if we lose and don't make the playoffs where going to be laughed at all over the fucking place.
