Turn on NFLN now. They are airing the season opener against the 49ers. Yeah I know we lost but it's always great to watch the 98 team in action
Is that going to be before or after they arrest Holmes and Edwards for cocaine trafficking and Cromartie for running an escort service?
Before that, but after Holmes is arrested on suspicion of terrorism for carrying explosive devices in his ears.
I was at that game. Hell of a game with Foley looking like the answer at times, and the 49ers fans were gracious as hell even though a few of my buddies got tossed, but that run by Hearst was the biggest gut check I've ever had at a live game. I'll have to watch it on a replay tonight or tomorrow. I've never seen the game on TV.
Worst gut-check I ever had was on TV, 2001 Wild Card game. Charlie Garner the fucking 80 yard TD run on 3rd and ten with 1:40 left and Jets down a score. I just remember watching that unfold in slow mo, and losing my shit. That was probably the first game I ever watched and put all my emotions into, at 10. The first Jet game I ever watched was the 1998 AFCCG, but the Raiders game is the first I remember being distraught at.
i havent seen that game since we lost. maybe ill watch it again and then go on another 2 day coke binge just for old times sake
Sheesh, I stumbled upon this game last night.... Amazing how Foley throws for almost 500 yards and then disappears... Chrebet, Keyshawn looked awesome.
That was your worst gut check you'd ever had? We weren't really even ever in that game. Two cross country flights in back to back weeks took it's toll on us. For such a young person, I would have thought the 2004 AFC Divisional Doug Brien missed kicks would have ranked higher on your list.
That run was horrible obviously but waht I remember most is Mo lewis never giving up and eventually running down hearst- unfortunately it was at the GL. The biggest play of the game other than the hearst run was Kevin Williams standing and waiting for an INT rather than attacking, if he attacks he picks the ball off and SF does not score their last TD in regulation which gave them their first lead in the 2nd half.
Doug Brien game is without a doubt the worst game in my lifetime as a Jets fan. It hurt so bad. It hurt even worse because I truly felt the Jets could beat New England and I KNEW the Steelers could not.
That was bad but I think Cle '86 was worse b/c we would have had a shot in the title game against Den(though had we won that we would have been crushed by NYG in the SB). Also worse for me was the '82 title game, '85 WC, '98 title game and '02 div rd. I think we had a real shot at winning the SB in '82, '02 and '98.
The 1986 Cleveland game was bad. I don't know if we beat Denver in Denver though. I think the Skins would have beat us in 1982. We would have destroyed the Dirty Bird in 1998. I have no doubt about it. 2002 is iffy to think we had a real shot at winning the SB. We were on a roll, but there were some better teams than us including the one that beat us.
I think 1998 was clearly the last time we had a true shot at winning it all, 02/04 were good years, but I think there were clearly teams that could of beat us Man if we could turn back that clock haha, and we drafted Sapp instead of Brady, maybe just maybe we could of stopped Terrel Davis and him kicking our ass We've been close so many times haha, next time we may not miss out
I think denver would have beaten us but I think we had a shot unlike 2004 at NE. I'm confident we could have beaten washington in '82, i know we would have beaten Atl in '98 and in '02 I think we matched up well w/ TB had we been able to beat Oak then Ten- I think we had a shot.
My memory is a little foggy, but did Terrel Davis tear his ACL for the first time playing the Jets, or was it the second time he tore it?
