Now who are we going to pick on in Oakland? Oh wait. There's Al Davis.

ALAMEDA, Calif. -- The Oakland Raiders have released former No. 1 overall pick JaMarcus Russell after three unproductive and highly paid seasons.

Senior executive John Herrera told The Associated Press the move was made Thursday and that "we wish him well."

The decision comes less than two weeks after Oakland acquired Jason Campbell from Washington to take over at quarterback.

Russell will now likely be considered the biggest draft bust in NFL history. He will have been paid more than $39 million by the Raiders, while producing only seven wins as a starter.

He lost his starting job midway through last season. His career has been hampered by a rookie holdout, poor work habits, being overweight and the lack of productive players around him.

I can't imagine any team picking him up. He may not even be offered a job in the UFL.

We better sign him. We don't have enough QB depth...and width.

Rex would never allow it. He would eat all of Sanchez's hot dogs.

If the competition is for Sanchez's hot dog he may actually win!

He's not going to even try to sign with anyone, he's sitting on 39million. He's set for life, free to do nothing but sit at home and eat twinkies and cheetos

I'd actually be a little surprised if he doesn't get signed by another team as a backup/3rd stringer.

Somebody will look at his supposed upside and think they might be able to "fix" him.

I can't imagine that any team sees the upside in him even if by miracle they were able to motivate him to stay in shape and work harder. He's not worth the trouble. I don't know if he cares enough about football to even bother with the UFL.

It's not like it would be an expensive gamble. The only way he hurts any team that picks him up is if he actually plays this season. Or falls on someone other than the backup punter.

He should go on that TV show(s) where C-List Celebs loose weight.

That'll keep 'em busy, and in the spotlight -- albeit, a dim spotlight. Plus, he'll earn a little more $$$ for his 500 dollar a week cookie dough habit.
