Great video showing vision, elusiveness, speed and guts. http://www.thejetsblog.com/2010/05/14/film-room-hes-kind-of-a-big-deal/ Kyle
good stuff good stuff. im excited to see him return some punts. we havnt had a solid explosive punt returner since moss was here. yes leon was a hell of a kick returner but never seemed to be able to do the same for punts. and cotch was just average
I've seen that video before, in addition to his excellent quickness and vision, watch the terrible blocking he gets on those returns. He makes those plays out of nothing. We may have found our answer at PR. It's been a while since we could say that we had a solid punt returner.
We've had solid punt returners for a few years now, it's been a while we could say we had a TD threat at PR.
anyine else think those videos are really high qaulity? I just love the editing, it actually makes me alugh out loud at times. I'm excited for Kyle, too. Seems like a dedicated player, which pleases me.
I guess it all depends on your definition of 'solid'. Cotchery was alright last season, but near the end he was totally inconsistent, and Leonhard wasn't much better early on. Santana Moss was good for a couple of seasons (02-03), and had 2 PR for touchdowns in 2002, but once contract time started looming, he couldn't find the sideline fast enough. Fail. Chad Morton returned 17 total punts in his 2 seasons with the Jets and averaged less than 10 yards a return, and had zero touchdowns. In fact, he only had 1 PR for a touchdown in his entire career.
Cotchery averaged over 10 yards a return last year, good for 9th in the NFL. He was solid, he just isn't a threat to break it 60 yards for a TD.
'Solid' in my opinion is not fair-catching punts when there isn't a defender within 20 yards of you - in the playoffs. I love Cotch as a receiver, but it takes a special type of mental patient to be a solid punt returner.
Bolded for truth. I'd add that I am not a fan of having an offensive player (particularly a starter) returning punts. Why risk your life when you could just come out and catch a couple passes on the upcoming drive? 3rd string CB on the other hand... Sign me up. It's the only time in the game where the spotlight is on them, and only on them.
and randy moss had 3tds in his first game as a pro, doesn't mean its gonna become the norm its all good, whatever gets u thru offseason
