The Jets look like theyre trying to keep the budget relatively tame because of the massive resigning due next year. I think Atogwe can command significant money, especially with all the interest in him. And quite frankly I really dont see the Jets coming out and offering him a 25-35 million dollar contract over the next 5 years. Itd be amazing if they did, but it just seems unlikely.
good point but why not just go with the draft! Atogwe is unrealistic, to get him we'll have to overpay him and with all the contracts that we need to re-sign plus the rookie contracts coming up i don't see that happening As I said many times I trust Rex Ryan in developing young Safeties he excels coaching DBs!
just look at the contract given to Antrel Rolle. I am not willing to give as much money to a FS. Look for Atogwe based on his production to try to get a similar contract and its not going to happen with the jets!!! I think we'll stay in St Louis or might go to the Dolphins. The Packers should try to get him actually!
I'm all for getting the safety in the draft. Put me down for busting a nut if we are able to get Morgan Burnett in the bottom of the 2nd. Sean Jones is a suggestion for those who want to bring a vet in.
not sure I like this....at all. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/05/27/dolphins-could-have-interest-in-atogwe/
i would've rather them land Antrel Rolle....Atogwe is a ballhawk who loves to hit. I'm actually more surprised that St.Louis is willing to let him walk.
Just think of it this way - if Miami does end up having a solid secondary, it will be something that Sanchez can hone his skills on so he's prepared to take on the real competition in the playoffs.
Well the Rams did not tender him his 6.976 million so now he is a unrestricted free agent. Where does he end up now?
well if I'm a Phins fan id cross my fingers for Atogwe Sanchez 2nd year, more weapons, Brady 2nd year removed from injury. dont get me wrong I wanted him on the Jets, but I hate the fact they got Dansby more than anything.
who cares, it won't be the Jets so no need to bump this thread as if he is a relevant Jets discussion.
It's quite possible that he lands with the Vikings or Cowboys as well, it's going to be a battle for his services. If he wants to win stay away from the AFC East
I doubt he plays for the Vikings who (aside from not needing a FS) don't know for sure if Favre is coming back. My money's on the Cowboys because the Dolphins have (for the most part) gone younger more often than not. Plus, he'll actually have a chance to win the division with the 'Boys.
i really want otagwe i know we have to sign our key players....but you really think he could get crazy money after being injured?....i think pool is a risk and dont count donovan warren playing to much.....its our last chance this year to get a premium safety
Why so much hate on Pool!? I think he can be a good starter... sure, Atogwe would be better but he'd also cost three times the money!
Having him would be great, but it would be a slap across the face to Harris, Revis, Mangold, and Brick. No way he comes for 1 year, and that is the only way the Jets would bring him in probably..(until our other guys are taken care of) edit: Plus I think he wants 7million a year. Can't do that.
