That is the only jab Dolphins can ever take. Second part is where they have trouble understanding. But I agree with you 100% right there. However, I would be very surprised if they sweep us again this year. In fact, I might be surprised they even go 1-1 against us. If Im expecting a victory, then I must be expecting two victories.
I guess you didnt watch those games then, huh? Henne was the reason why we were even able to come back in that Tennessee game in Week 15 and take it into overtime, leading 2 huge TD drives in the 4th quarter... going 6/8 for 66 yards, driving us from our 20 down to the 1 yard line, where we punched it in... and then on the next drive, starting from our own 10, went 7/9 for 87 yards and brought the team back to tie the game with only a minute and a half left... including big 3rd down and 4th down conversions. He had 1 bad INT earlier in that game, but the other 2, including the one in OT, were tipped at the LOS... hardly "choking" under the pressure of a big game. If anything, he showed composure and poise leading us back into that game. And the Houston game?!? THAT is playing poorly? lol! He went 35/55 (64% completion) for 322 yards and a TD. The "INT" he had was when he hit Ricky Williams right in the hands, and Ricky instead tipped it straight up into the air, and Cushing caught it. You can see the play in Cushing's highlights at the 1:54 mark. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3Y6PzMtzl0 Henne played great in the Houston game. The defense played like garbage in the game... as it did against Tennessee, and as it did against Pitt. The defense fell apart down the stretch... not Henne.
NO, Buffalo, NE, and Atlanta. Those are the four games he's referring to. A quick look at Marks stats shows that Mark had 5 games where he threw for more ints than TDs. Those four, plus one against Jags. Those 5 games combined gave Mark 3 tds against 17 ints. The other 13 including the playoff games brought Mark 13 TDs and 4 ints. That is extremely impressive to say the least, regardless of what kind of offense you are running. Chad Henne had three games with multiple picks. Those three games had him 2 TDs and 8 picks. The other 11 games brought him 10 TDs and 6 picks. Good, but nowhere near extremely impressive. When I say extremely impressive, I could be wearing green glasses but when a rookie goes 13:4 TD to int ratio versus Hennes 10:6 ratio in their best games, the difference is not marginal. Reason why I said Henne had a marginally better season than Sanchez was because Sanchez had more bad gamesthan Henne (although Sancehz played more as well). There is one thing to remember here. Sanchez had 5 picks against Buffalo in their first meeting. Four, if not all five, picks were thrown when Sanchez was forcing passes towards Braylon, who had been in NY for about 9 or 10 days and had three practice sessions with him. They were not even on the same page as a couple of the passes went the wrong directions. I would like to believe that was Edwards fault since he was the one who was new in the system. You take away that one wind heavy game and you instantly see Marks rookie year being a much greater success even stats wise. For that reason alone, I'd pick Sanchez to be my franchise QB. Although I disagree that the QB alone would have had us at 12-4 record since thats not even possible to predict. In that case, Henne should have been 11-3 in his 14 games played, including two Ws against the Jets.
Well, if the first game of the season is a big game... then you can add 3-1 to his "big game record"...
If you're going to look at TD/INT ratio... also take a look at what Henne had in terms of redzone targets in order to generate those TDs. A rookie WR led us with 3 TDs... and a 5'10 190lbs slot WR was 2nd on our team in TDs. Now that the Fins have an actual receiving redzone threat, expect his TD numbers to increase...
I'll agree I didn't watch those games, but I just saw the play. It was a bad pass if ur not wearing your teal glasses. Ricky was about 10 yards away from the QB when he threw a needless bullet that was at Ricky's shoulders. Not enough time to adjust to the pass when you are standing just a few yards away from the QB on a bullet. Could have picked up easy yards there had the throw been 'on target'.
i've said this before, and i'll say it again, sanchez has the makings of a star, what does henne have? the making of a middle of the pack qb.
Im well aware of the ebbs and flows of sanchez' rookie season. consistency is one of the biggest improvements he needs to make. make no mistake about it, our seasons success is directly linked to sanchez playing much better than last year. he is the key.
I've said it numerous times. It is very hard to compare the two QBs based on one season where they weren't too far apart. And I did agree Henne had a marginally better season simply because Henne didn't have those terrible games Sanchez did. We'll get a better idea after this year who would be better, especially now since Dolphins also have a pro bowler catching passes.
i have a friend who is a dolphin fan [ugh] and he's also a michigan fan, and he says pennington should start for the dolphins. now thats just one persons opinion, but you wont find anybody here saying they rather have pennington over sanchez. [at least i hope not]
Huh? Ricky is standing there ready for the pass... and it hit him dead in the hands. If Henne throws that softer... Ricky is going to get lit up in the back by Cushing. Henne threw a quick pass and hit Ricky dead in the hands... and the ball pops up. The throw was on target. The catch was fail...
Agree on all accounts. This season is going to be very telling... as they now both are on more even ground...
Again, it did hit him in the hands, but that doesn't mean it was an accurate pass. It would have hit him on his shoulders pads and thats what caused Ricky to tip the pass since he couldn't react in time. Yes, the throw needed to be a bullet, but just a little bit more accurate. JaMarcus Russell could have made that pass too...wait, never mind.
When a pass hits you in the hands... and instead the player causes an INT... its not throwing him under the bus, lol. Its just fact. Pennington looked HORRIBLE last year before he got hurt. There were rumblings to bring in Henne even before the injury. And moving forward in terms of the future... Pennington offers us absolutely nothing. Your friend is in the VAST minority that Pennington should start over Henne. You wont find a single analyst that agrees with that...
I thought Henne looked real good last year and I think he has a great future. But, considering that Henne sat for one year and learned, and Sanchez started right out of the shoot and played like a 4 year Vet in the playoffs, I would say at this point, Sanchez is a little bit better. Bottom line, both QB's have a great future and whoever is on the better team and wins more will be considered the better QB. The Jets/Dolphins rivalry is gonna be a lot of fun once again. And both teams have excellent coaches. But the Dolphin defense is not even close to the Jets at this time. Lets see what improvements they have made. Should be fun. I hope the Pats are not even in the equation. Agree FiNasty? Damm, I love your Avatar, ummm good
