I'm confused by this whole buy back thing. So he basically has 3 years left with $21 million total, right? So if he shows up on time this year he can head into FA earlier? Like at the end of this season?
He will lose that fucking fight against Mr T.....Do NOT fuck with him Revis....will not win you will trash your career....or apologize and kiss his pinky
Well you know... If I was the GM of a team like the Lions or the Rams I would think about giving Revis the kind of money Aso gets... in a team with not much talent you have to pay extra to bring in a guy with the mind-set and hard work that Revis puts in everyday. And since a guy like that makes everyone around him better it could pay off... The question is, would Revis agree to take say 2 mill less per season to be on a team that's not a contender? If I was Revis the answer woul be no, but since I'm not him I've no idea... PS Revis and his agent have ONE thing playing his way.. Aso's contract... everything else in this negotiation favors the Jets. I agree it would be nice (and sensible) if they let that go but I just don't see it happening.
If i were a team like the Lions or the Rams...i'd be more concerned about rebuilding the core talent of my team....rather than blowing a huge load of their cap space on one elite player.
I'm not saying I would do it for sure. But sometimes on these teams there's a lack of a guy that leads by example on how to be the best NFL player you can be. I think a happy Revis can set that kind of example. Guys who can do it even better are guys like Larry Fitzgerald or Ray Lewis... guys that not only are very productive but also make their team-mates better professionals. If you have loads of cap space (like thos crappy teams have) it makes sense to pay a 2-3 mill premium just because of the effect guys like Revis have on the rest of the team. On teams like the Jets where that isn't needed as much (many players to take as examples on our roster) it doesn't make sense to pay that premium $$$... PS that said I agree the first priority of any GM, especially those on a team with no talent, should be to bring in some sort of talent all across the board.
Revis our proposed fan captain coming through in the clutch by showing he's a team player. Or he can do this, he's setting a great example for Kyle. We should've expected more of this anyway, it still boggles my mind when a rookie holds out. Didn't even play one down as a pro and was holding out, WTF??
Haha plus it's not like he was chosen in the top 5! I still remember last year when I heard an interview with the Revis... to the question: "What dream do you want to realize in the NFL?" His answer was: "I want to make a lot of money" Now I'm not going to judge him and say it's a bad thing... many people do what they do because it makes them earn well. It's also a goal that makes him very motivated seeing how good of a player he's become... But during contract negotiations his goal has to be kept in mind. Hopefully winning it all is a close second on his priority list
Seriously, I am begining to think F Revis. The dollar value of the contract is not the only variable in the deal. He is comparing to Aso's deal, but he does not consider that Aso's team sucks, his franchise sucks, his owner sucks..etc.. Revis plays in the biggest market in sports with a contender with the #1 D in the league, a great coach, GM and owner. The best training facility and stadium in all of football. Trade him to a loser like Detroit, Tampa, or Houston and let him take his money, wreck some else's cap, get less in endorsements and fall into obscurity. It is like someone from backwoods Alabama trying to negotiate a raise with his boss and using NYC work salaries as comparison.
buyback shit....make him play his contract out or retire....Mr T will make an example of Revis for all owners to follow......you sign a contract you play it out well have the best corner in the history of the nfl for $1mil this year lol ( fuck u mb)
you believe Revis should apologize and kiss Tanny's pinky.....and you're telling me to fuck off? LOL..........herp derp.
I've been thinking the exact same thing, as much as it would hurt for him to get traded, it would send a message to the players in the organization that we don't tolerate those actions, the Steelers sure as hell don't take that type of shit nor do the Ravens or even the wack ass Patriots. We need to be a classy, yet FAIR organization that doesn't overpay all the time for players I guess a trade to the Lions Rams or Bucs would make him understand ... he would def get his money ... too bad those teams won't be in contention for years on
without Revis, our D is not hte same. not even close. it bears repeating. without Revis, we aren't going to be able to play on the same field as Manning. to everyone who is "fuck revis" you're a fool. period.
First off that won't happen, if it did Rex would work some magic. No doubt it would be different, but Rex did fine with the Ravens without Revis on his team. Rex has a ton of talent to work with, a ton.
