New York Jets coach Rex Ryan already is looking forward to his next shot at the Miami Dolphins.

"For some reason that game even brings on more meaning," Ryan said. "I want to beat them. You want to beat everybody, but absolutely we were 0-2 against Miami last year. They took two from us."

Rex Ryan and the Jets finished 0-2 against the Dolphins last year. The Jets made it to the playoffs despite failing to beat the Dolphins, who didn't reach the postseason a year after winning the AFC East title. The Dolphins won 31-27 at home in Week 5, a Monday night game that featured five lead changes in the fourth quarter, and 30-25 at the Meadowlands in Week 8 behind a pair of Ted Ginn kickoff returns for touchdowns and a Jason Taylor defensive touchdown.

The victories have given Dolfans something to jab the Jets faithful about for eight months.

Dolfans made sure to taunt Ryan directly when he attended a mixed martial arts event in South Florida a week before the Super Bowl, eliciting a one-finger salute from Ryan that ended up in the papers.

And maybe there's another reason Ryan is extra motivated to beat the Dolphins.

Ryan is a twin. He knows what a sibling rivalry is all about, having competed with Rob Ryan, the Cleveland Browns' defensive coordinator, virtually from the nursery.

When he looks at the Dolphins, he sees a mirror image of the Jets.

"They're well-coached," Rex Ryan said of the Dolphins, who interviewed him for their head-coaching vacancy in 2008. "I like the way they play. They've got two big backs that run at you downhill.

"We're similar teams. We're built on defense and being able to run the football, and we've both got young quarterbacks. It's definitely a challenge when you're up against them."

The Jets will play the Dolphins in Week 3 at Sun Life Stadium and Week 14 at the new Meadowlands stadium.

Cool article. I still cannot believe those clowns beat us twice last year.

I don't care if we go 0-2 to Miami every year as long as we are in the playoffs come week 17.

They can have their pitiful wins as long as they are golfing in January.

Wow I never was able to watch the 2nd dolphins gamae but I cant believe their offense didnt score a single Touch Down and still beat us. It showed that our defense rebounded but damn special teams.

Ughh so much hate and anger toward them. I think their luck has run out though.

Nooooooooooooooo!! Screw the Dolphags!! We should crush them every time. I don't care if those are are our ONLY wins of the season.....it still bothers me that we got swept. Bothers me more than the loss to the Colts...

They did take two away from us last season. Would've been 11-5. Bastards.

I always had that as my mantra throughout the 80's. If we were 2-14 and those were the two wins it wasn't a terrible year.

BUT, this year I could care less that we lost once the playoffs began and we were playing our best football and Parcells was eating a big sandwich on a fishing boat somewhere in FL.

No trash talk though, nothing but respect for those guys this year. I assumed we'd own them but they turned the tables. Time to get them back this year.

That sentiment is better suited for college football. For example, the only game Michigan has to win each year is the game against Ohio State.

I've hated the Dolphins my whole life more than any other football team. Most younger Jets fans hate the Pats, I hate the Dolphins. I grew up with one of my best friends being a Dolphins fan. Back when the Jets had their infamous 1-15 season and just the misery of Bruce Coslet, Pete Carroll and Clueless Kotite eras. I used to dread going to school after the Jets lost having to hear about how much my team sucked from Dolphins fans. Ugh, I despise that franchise.

Absolutely.... my senior year in college we beat two teams. BYU and Nevada who are our 2 biggest rivals which was nice but going 2-10 sucked.

After the first game I remember lying in bed totally full of adrenaline after the game and really disappointed. The second one I was so bitter and was in total disbelief. Kind of like how I felt after the Bills @ home, Jacksonville and Atlanta.

I'm excited about it. We hate you guys and you guys hate us. We beat you twice last season, but you were playing in January and we weren't.

Makes for a fun series and season in 2010. I'm pumped.

We probably couldve went 14-2 realistically. Bills game, both dolphins games, the Jaguars game, and the Falcons.

Its all good though because it showed in the playoff that we were much better than what our record showed.

I'm with you, I've hated you guys since I was a kid.Fuck Dan Marino, fuck Don Shula and fuck Luther Campbell !!! Let's hope these Pats bandwagon jumpers fade away like their team is and realize that the real rivalry in the AFC East is Jets and Dolphags.
