If Slauson works out at left guard, Woody needs to be on the roster until Ducasse is completely ready to start.

Protecting Sanchez needs to be this team's top priority.

That would be ridiculous. 6 Big Meat heads up front blocking, with big ass Conner, and Green to follow. We'll be converting a lot of 3rd/4th and ones like that.

It's nice having that flexibility with Ducasse able to play LG, RG, or RT. I'm pullling for Slauson to get the job as well.

    Same.
Come the end of the season I have a feeling that Ducasse will get some starting time

I have that same feeling. We have been lucky as hell that Woody has stayed healthy for the past 2 seasons.

I couldn't have said that better myself. I remember there were a few times the last couple seasons where Big Wood has gone down after the play and needed to sit out a play here and there. Every time he did, I had to hold my breath. It isn't that Woody is a All-Pro at that position, but as I'm sure others will agree, I had no faith in the backups we had being able to step in and replace him for an extended period of time. It is nice to see we do have guys who can step in now despite the fact that they might be a bit raw...at least the talent is there.

Woody was actually injured for about half the third quarter and all of the fourth against the Bills in the first game, but Wayne Hunter did a pretty good job of subbing for him and they had Turner in as a TE for a whole lot of time in that game.

I think we have a pretty damn good depth situation right now on the O-line, although that was one of my biggest worries going into last season.

I'm not the one whining about wasting a draft pick on a guy who just had his 5th training camp practice. Not sure what pill you can take to make you punch yourself in the face every time you see a message board Submit button, but I bet Pfizer could make a fortune off of you.

This is actually very good news.

Ducasse is inexperienced, hasn't played the guard position, comes from a small school, and all reports said he was a beast but raw. Ducasse is making not only the jump from LT to LG, but small school to the NFL.

He needs some time to adjust, get coached up.

The real silver lining is that Slauson just might be a good NFL guard. Callahan knows this kid, and I'm sure that he knew Slauson could replace Fanecca, or why would they have cut him? In the meantime, Ducasse is quality depth and might be groomed to be our RT. All good.

Rex said he like Slauson because he plays with a nastier attitude! I am rooting for him so that they can groom the "Black Russian" for RT next season and then we can spend out 1st round pick on a pass rusher...

Maybe if you used more punctuation I could understand you, but if Ducasse becomes our RT of the future how would that equal a waste of a draft pick?

EXACTLY. I didn't want Ducasse to win the job. Mix him in a bit and make him earn it. Playing him too early could spell disaster! Slauson has already played against better competition.

This is what I've been saying all along. Imagine, Slaw starts at LG and next year Duc starts at RT. We will have a stacked young offensive line that will be together for the next 10 years. Wow!!!
