I want to apologize if this was posted already.....just merge if i missed another thread talking about this. Not a big fan of Cimini...but I thought the bolded part of this article was interesting.....I have a new respect for Dwight Lowery. link to the rest of the article
thats awesome. true stand up move by lowery. wilson must be really showing something for lowery to want to do that.
I don't know how anyone reads that and gains respect for Lowery. To me it makes me think he's a puss.
DON'T LET LT KNOW ABOUT THIS! HE MIGHT DEMAND GREENE DO THE SAME. Or maybe one of Cromarties kids will demand the other children get out of his seat. zomg character issues
I don't really know about that. A team player? He basically said he can't do the job, give it to Wilson.
if it makes him a puss...that's fine. As long as we have the best players starting....I could care less.
Its pretty simple - Lowery understands this kid is the future and would rather see him get the reps now in preseason and grow quicker. Lowery's been around, he gets it, but he wants to see the kid improve. That's a team right there. I love the move. Its unselfish and its being aware of the bigger picture.
I get what you're saying. Simply giving the position away will help Wilson improve since he'll be practicing with the first time, but why deprive him of the chance to actually FIGHT for the position?
I mean, it's nice that he wants to help the team and all but he's making a decision that should be left to the coaches. As a competitor I'd expect him to fight for that position until someone told him it wasn't his. At the end of camp they're all on the same team, but for now they're competing for spots.
The whole point of position battles is to push all involved into putting in 110% into every down to earn a spot as a starter. I've never really heard a young player say, "Nah, it's cool. I like riding bench." You guys can look at it however u want, but this is doing a great disfavor for K-Dub. I suppose it doesn't really matter anyway cause Lowery was never really a good covering receivers 1-on-1. Maybe he's grown extremely fond of the S idea.
That's a good point. He may just be conceding the fact that he'll just be wasting time competing with Wilson for a starting CB position when he'd much rather take the time to practice at Safety.
on one hand...it's doing him a disservice in that he's not competing for his spot...he should earn his cake before he eats it..... but on the other hand....he's getting meaningful reps with the 1st team....which would certainly facilitate his development a lot quicker.
