I know its still the preseason, and I am not hitting the panic button yet, but if the Jets offense struggles this season, do you think he will get a pass since it is Sanchez's sophomore season, or does the organization ask him to resign and hand the job over to a proven offensive coordinator (but not a very good head coach) in Callahan?
I think next season there is a chance. I think the staff feels that the offense has all the pieces in place, and if they don't execute, the blame has to be placed on someone. However, if Rex has endured Schotty throughout all of his boneheaded plays last year, I think it would be shocking if he fired him after this year.
Agreed, I kept hoping after the last 2 seasons that Someone would hire him away from us, hut he keeps pulling himself out of contention for the opening, it pisses me off every time!
We are running a Vanilla offense right now....calm down. Its just been inside handoffs, and cross routes.
Yeah I keep reading that. Schotty is still learning too, and in time believe he will be a premier OC. How long and how patient the Jets FO will be with him remains to be seen. Personally I think Shotty will have a good season, and the bulk of the O plays we have not seen yet.
I think Rex has made him a better Coordinator. Schotty is fine for now. Preseason is a horrible motive for asking for his head at any time.
The offense has too many weapons and Mark has to get used to it. Once they find a rhythm and some identity, they offensive unit will be fine.
It is preseason and the playbook has not even been opened yet. Plus Sanchez is a second year QB. Does anybody think that Stafford putting on a Jet uniform at this point would mean a SB?????
Whats funny about Schotty is most Jets fans want him fired and most other people think he will be a Head Coach in 2011.
I wanted Schotty fired last year, but fuck that. Imagine firing our play caller, and dealing with Sanchez? Let the kid learn, and keep the same asshole calling plays atleast this year.
Mass Hysteria, cats and dogs, LT breaking out, our second year QB not throwing TDs in preseason!! What the hell is going on!?!?!!? OK, I'm over it.
Its hard to really judge anyone of significance based on preseason. Schotty was fine last year and overall I dont think he has done a bad job. I think the stories of Mangini not letting his coordinators and coaches do their jobs was true. I dont see him being fired at all this year unless the offense is really really bad.
I believe this is Shotty's 5th season as the OC, That is more time with one team then most OC's get to prove themselves. I'll obviously root for him to succeed, but if our offense doesn't put up some points on the boards and play with some consistently with all of these weapons, he'll have to go. If Schotty fails, I like the idea of promoting Callahan so that Sanchez will have some continuity the next season if a change is made.
