I had to post this and laugh......McDaniels' traded away a first round pick for this clown. I don't know how McDaniels retains employment if Denver tanks this season. link
Never understood his fascination with Tebow. I mean, Orton wasn't bad at all last year. Didn't the D fall apart in the second half of the season?
trading a first round pick for Alphonso Smith...and then having that blow up in your face? McDaniels looks like a fucking idiot. He better pray that Tebow turns into something special.
I'm not sure if this is sarcastic or not. It amazes me how no NFL analyst (maybe because espn analysts suck) talk about Tebows reading progression. IMO Tebows biggest flaw isn't his release, its the fact that he has always been known to stare down his targets and not look for his 2nd and 3rd options. In college he was always, make first read.... if not open run.
I may be in the minority, but I think the combination of Tebow's physical abilities with McDaniels knack for getting the most out of a QB (see Cassell, Matt) can come together to form a pretty potent combination.
Agreed. He also has more physical talent than Cassel and a better running game. I think that while Tebow has a release that needs work, he also has great placement. I think that his ability to put the ball where he wants will help make up for his slower release. I also think his arm is a lot stronger than advertised, but that could be the thin Denver air.
McDaniels has been a joke so far, but how much of this is on him really? Don't they have a GM and scouting/personnel staff in Denver? I thought the days of head coaches making the picks and trades were over in the NFL.
true, but you have to think that Mcdaniels had to ok moves like this. I think that trade ups in the NFL draft tend to involve the head coach, especially when you are trading away a 1rst rounder next season. Sure scouting departments and GMs need to ok everything, and agree and say, yeah this guy is worth going up to get. But I would think on any draft pick, the coach has to have final say, saying that he wants, or doesn't want that guy on his team.
