Since we made it to the AFCC game last year.....the natural progression would be a "super bowl" berth this season.

Obviously, I want the Jets to win it.....but if the Jets make it to the super bowl and lose....i would still consider that an improvement over last season....as heartbreaking as that sounds.

Following and watching the Jets is a huge form of entertainment for a lot of fans. As long as they provide some great football during the season, exciting moments, etc, I'm satisfied. A Super Bowl is the ultimate goal of course, but I wouldn't call the season a failure if we don't win one.

If we don't make the superbowl and DON'T win for course its a fail, since when is a moral victory or 2nd place praised in sports?

Close only counts with horseshoes and hand grenades.

For the team yes, but not the fan.

Right, last season was the most exciting Jets season to watch since probably 2002 for me. We didn't win the superbowl but I had a great time watching until late january.

I am not going to say its not FUN to watch, and I will still watch every game. But in the end your team is not the best its still a fail.

To me the worst thing about last year was losing to the f'ing Dolfags twice.

those feelings were quickly erased for me....when the Jets made the playoffs...and the Phins got stymied.

Sure, 31 teams fail every year. That doesn't take away from the fan experience too much - of course winning it all woud be great but it's not necessary to enjoy the sport as a fan.

I would consider this season a success, and a step forward in the Ryan Era, if all of the following occurred:

    1. Win 11+ games.

    2. Win a playoff game.

    3. Have Sanchez make some progress in the process of doing the above.

    That's a successful season.

If the Jets win the Super Bowl it's a success no matter what else happens.

Sorry I must disagree with U

In FB one year is totally different then the next due to UFA, cuts etc, etc, etc.

I never forget Marty Lyons quote after the mud bowl vs Miami when he said FOR SURE they would be back the following year & well............ you should know the rest of the history after that. That was before UFA also

How may repeat SB champs have there been?

Look how many so called (by the experts) "winning" seasons the Colts had in a row & how many SBs they won during that period

That made me feel better, too, but it's never a good thing to lose to F'ing Miami.

Yes, however I highly doubt that many, if any, Colts fans consider their team to be anything but highly successful over the last decade as that has been going on.

If the Jets had won a Super Bowl while winning that many games over the last decade I'd be really happy with them right now. It's this 10-6/9-7 followed by 4-12 crap that has worn thin over the most successful Jets decade since the 1960's.

As long as the team is improving and inching closer to being a Super Bowl caliber team....then I would consider that a step in the right direction. The Jets have shown considerable improvement in the Tanny/Rex era....the mindset and the talent are there. Should be a fun season this year.

If you expect to win a super bowl every year, Champ.....maybe you should trade in your rubix cube for a PS3 and a copy of Madden 11.....

Sorry I respectfully have to disagree with U

Fans want to see there team win championships something like the NYYs do quite regular. When that does not happen most "normal" fans are highly disappointed when the NYJs again fail to achieve the VLT

I still remember the hurt when Bobby Thompson whacked that ball into the LF stands @ the Polo Grounds with 2 on to win a PO vs the Dodgers

I still remember all the hurt the NYYs put on the Brooklyn Dodger fans when they beat them year after year. The slogan was "wait till next year"

I sure when you watch a regular season FB game & the other side wins I would venture my guess you are disappointed as hell. The same goes for the entire regular season since it is played to get to the POs then the POs are played to get to the SB & then the SB is played to WIN it. If you are the loser in the SB that means you are grouped with the 30 other losing teams in the NFL because you to are a loser no matter what your regular season & PO record was.

    Making the playoffs: Success

    Beating the Bengals: Success

    Beating the Chargers: Success

Not winning the Super Bowl doesn't take away the excitement from those three events.
