Naturally I do not expect to win it every year. But if the Pats can win it 3 out of 10 we should be able to also. In fact if you desire me to go further we should be right up there with the Steelers 6, Boys & Niners 5 each & besides the NEPs several other teams with 3 each,. How do U know we are "inching" closer to a SB win? For all you know the moves made last winter may make us a worse team. In fact it is referred to in today's blogs with Slauson & Vlad. We have no idea if MS will regress, If LT will have young wheels for 16 games, If Green will stay healthy, If Wilson can hold down the fort, If Taylor or anybody else can step in for Pace & so on & so forth So sorry at least for this fan since 65 it is a SB or bust & there is NOTHING you or any one else can say that will make change my mind on that. If you feel differently fine with me that just means we have entire different values for the same team.
nice contradiction. I share some of your concerns, Champ.....but i don't share the "all or nothing" mentality. Of course we're "inching" towards being a super bowl caliber team.....we made the AFCC game last year....the offseason moves made by the mgmt clearly demonstrate that this team is committed to WINNING. Will it translate into wins.....i guess we'll find out in a few weeks.
It's a philosophical question, but while I very much wish the Jets win a Super Bowl and the sooner the better, the all or nothing attitude is not one I share. First of all it ignores the obvious, which is that we as fans follow the team's progress one game at a time. Each win has intrinsic merit in terms of the enjoyment we experience. If the Jets beat the Ravens the first game of the season, am I going to say "I really can't enjoy this because it's just one win and if the Jets don't get to the SB it won't mean anything."? F no. I am going to feel great they beat the Ravens. Second is a more general point - I must find something beneficial about being a Jet fan that does not include watching them make the SB, since they haven't done that in 41 years, so by definition the all or nothing concept does not square with my experience being a Jet fan. Obviously. Having said that, if they don't get to the SB this year, will I be disappointed? Perhaps, but at this point it's too early to tell whether that will be my primary take on the whole season.
Yes starting 09/13 we will begin to see how good the structure of this team is. Just different values on the SB or bust
Anybody worried about our Qb that would have went in the 3rd rd had he stayed in School and come out in this years draft? I mean at some point he will have to throw the ball and his defense reading skills are an abomination!
Do you care that Tom Brady was drafted in the 6th round and is going to the HOF? Did you see Sanchez throw the ball extremely well against the Giants? DO you also know that this is still the preseason? Stats don't count right now, I'm surprised you didn't know that Richard.
So your answer to my question is "I'm a negative Nancy"? Maybe I will be asking for Kellen week 8, but I assure you I will have better reasoning than none if that's the case.
Chad's gone, he needs a new person to blame for everything so why not Sanchez? Unless he really is Kellen Clemens, which is possible.
He can't read a defense! Did you see Deangelo Hall read his telegraphed pass like a book or the other picks that were dropped this preseason. He could have had 30 picks last year but a lot of them were dropped. Everybody is coming with their A game against us this year so he better be ready.
Sanchez does not get the blame for anything. It is Woody and co who get the blame for their PSL Pretty boy move. Should have offered multiple picks for Stafford or waited until this year to get one of the three Qb's that are better than him that came out.
Better be careful with that kind of talk around here. Consider being tarred and feathered a light sentence.
