the fact that very few teams do so, it is completely asinine to take what is obviously a very rare occurrence and use that as your criteria for success.

I did see that--not sure what other options you had but kudos nonetheless.

I don't think Detroit was givng up the #1 pick after going 0-16, and us waiting another two years to draft a QB seems far-fetched when the rest of the team was/is in win-now mode. I know you like rebuilding and all, but you have to rebuild on the fly these days. The Walt Michaels 5-year plans are a thing of the past.

and yet the season as a whole was a success because the team showed significant improvement from the year before despite that one game being unsuccessful.

Also as Jet fans we should remember as well as anyone how much "luck" and Walt Coleman had to do with the Cheatriots getting those three wins. Like McNabb choking away the game, too.

This team is built to win now. The main concern is our Qb as usual. The sad thing in this whole scenario is this is the kind of team that CHAD could have won with. That's right I said It I would rather have Noodle arm than Sanchez right now!

I guess we look at things differently since to me any season is unsuccessful unless you are the World Champs

I think Sanchez will be ok, he did pretty well for a rookie and got a lot of experience. People who think Sanchez will just continue rolling off of last year's playoffs forget how hard it is to be a QB in the NFL, most of them have ups and downs, especially the first couple of years. This team will win with defense and running first, the way you generally win in the northeast late in the season when it counts.

Chad at this point in his career hadn't really played yet and had a lot more college experience. I agree he would have fit well with this team but he also got hurt all the time, so it became hard to count on him. Sanchez is the future guy, people have to remember where he is and not expect him to be the finished product in year two.

I pretty much agree with this. I do think they could keep Sanchez rolling like he was in the playoffs last year if they ran the ball two-thirds of the time like they were down the stretch. I don't expect that to happen however, so I think we're going to have incremental improvement from Sanchez in which he looks good and bad and hopefully manages to limit the bad days to less than outright disasters.

If the Jets defense was just average I'd figure there's no way they're not going 7-9 this year, just as if the Jet's defense was average they'd probably have gone 5-11 last year. With a top 6 or 8 defense they'll win 10 or 11 games and hopefully get on a roll at the end like last year.

I agree, but only to an extent. Flacco, Stafford, Moore and even Henne are making fewer mistakes than Sanchez. If all Sanchez can do is 200 yards a game in the air, he has to cut WAY back on the mistakes. He isn't being asked to win games, he is being asked not to lose them.

I don't buy into Schotty senior's comments about second year QB's at all. That was true a decade ago, but not now. Sanchez has to stop making the big mistakes. In fact, this season depends on that. With or without Revis, if Sanchez can have a near 2 to 1 INT to TD ratio (a bit worse is fine, like 22-14) and throw for an average of 200 yards a game, this team can go somewhere. If not, forget about it. It's not like he has to throw for 300 yards.

I do not think the NEPs are the only team to win 3 SBs so it is not such a unusual circumstance as you state. I believe the NYGs, Skins & Raiders also won 3 SBs

What makes U think I am angry? Just giving you my outlook on what a successful season encompasses. You do not have to like it but those in ultimate end are the facts if you do not win the SB you are losers just like the other 30 teams who did not play in the SB

Did you ever think maybe....just maybe....you should root for the Giants, Skins, Raiders or Pats?

sounds like you'd lead a happier life if you did.

Second year QB's are still a work in progress in most cases, even if they are star caliber. Having Sanchez step into the great situation that he did last season was offset by the fact that the Jets decided to let him off the leash out of training camp and the league quickly caught on to all the rookie mistakes he was making. If the Jets had buttoned things down earlier they might have won a couple of more games (New Orleans and Buffalo) and we'd have a very different picture of Sanchez today.

I'm still befuddled that Brian Schottenheimer survived this mess. Bill Callahan was the guy who came through with the all-run offense in the second half of the season and really he should be the OC right now. If Sanchez gets off to a rocky start and the play-calling is suspect I expect Schotty to get the heave-ho when the shakeup comes.

I think that's where the coaching staff comes in and how we got hot late last year. They're not going to give Sanchez free reign if he's shitting the bed. He's still a young QB, if they have to focus on running and D and tell him don't fuck up or you sit, that's what they'll do.

you seem to be more impressed/concerned with every other team's superbowl success......which is your perogative.....but then maybe you should look into rooting for one of those teams.

Totally incorrect just correcting to that poster that others teams besides the NEPs have won 3 SBs since he seemed to claim it was so totally unusual to have won 3 SBs
