Gotta say with the 80000 analyst picking Ryan Matthews as OROTY im feeling pretty glad Miami passed on him for their old drug addict hb and their disgruntled injury prone one.
If the Chargers keep hemorrhaging talent we probably wont see much of Matthews. Seems like they tell all their best players to go fuck themselves. LT, Jackson, Cromartie, their one OL (Forgot his name), and Merriman situation doesnt look great. Combine that with Norv being considered a failed coach I dont think the jets will see Matthews very often at all.
Am I the only one who thinks Matthews won't do much at SD? He's a talented player but I think overrated, especially behind that offensive line.
Wait so we cant go to the SB because 1 of our CB's is holding out but the ravens have complete shit at CB and FS without reed healthy and they can stop the colts, pats, or texans?
The Ravens arent us. Reed is expected to be back in september, and they have a top 5 DL, some excellent linebackers, a top 3 hb, and an offense that can score far better than ours. Yeah their corner situation blows, but theres plenty of other guys on the field. While I know we can beat the Ravens (especially with Revis wed almost completely shut down their passing attack), I think they easily are most deserving of being the favorite
The thing is, it sucks to be a running back in San Diego. They're a passing team, and they're a downfield passing team. Every pass play I've seen from the Chargers in the last year has featured LT waiving his arms frantically "I'm open! I'm open!" before Philip Rivers throws it downfield. When they check down, they check down to Gates.
I'm sorry, I don't buy it. It all depends on Sanchez, but if he matures, we easily have a better offense than Baltimore. And we have a better defense, regardless. Right now, yes, Flacco is definitely better than Sanchez but I'm not sure he's as much of a proven commodity as everyone makes him out to be. Also, how is Baltimore better than Indianapolis??
How do we easily have a better offense ? They have far better halfbacks (I think Ray Rice is easily a top 3 HB, probably more deserving of top 2) and their QB has performed at a high level. Sanchez would have to DRASTICALLY improve to have a better season than Flacco. And while we have a far better recieving corp, I dont think there is a single sane person on this planet who will pick Sanchez to have a better season than Flacco. Not to mention their offensive line looks 100 times better than ours this preseason. The advantage we have over the Ravens is straight up our cornerbacks. Which means a LOT in a pass driven league, but its not everything.
Sporting News picked us to win the whole thing, just saying. But who cares if these ESPN cock lovers didn't pick us to go all way? It just adds more fuel to fire.
Easily better halfbacks? meh, marginally better at best. I'd be willing to wager a fairly large sum of money that Shonn Green and a motivated LT running behind our offensive line will have just as much or even more production than Ray Rice and Co. Also, on the O-lines, I'm not putting too much stock into the preseason. Last year we had the best offensive line and running game in football and we still do until proven otherwise. And our receiving core (including pass-catching tight ends) is easily better than theirs. Again, their major advantage is at quarterback, but that advantage is transient subject to sudden change.
Absolutely. But the odds of that happening are quite close to 0. So we gotta rely on Green to continue to play like he did in the playoffs, and Revis to come back and allow us to shut down any team that wants to throw the ball (see every team in the nfl not named Jets)
Based on what? These were Flacco's numbers last year: 21 TD 12 INT 3,613 YDS 88.9 QB Rating Are the odds really almost ZERO that Sanchez will produce similar numbers this year? I mean, those are solid numbers. But they aren't off the charts. They are efficient and slightly above average. Nothing more, nothing less.
Oh theres no doubt our recievers completely blow theirs out of the water. But the Ravens had a top 5 offensive line last year, and should have one again this year (and dont think theirs had any radical changes like ours) And I mean Ray Rice had 2000 offensive yards last year (in 15 games) Thomas Jones had the best year of his career and only hit 1400 (while playing the terrible Bills defense 2x in that year). Im not trying to knock our hbs because I love green and think LT has a resurgence, but going forward im convinced Ray Rice is the best hb in the nfl
And Ray Rice/Mcgahee/McClain are definitely top 2, possibly #1 depending on how much faith you have in Chris Johnson to run a 1 man show.
