Sanchez would have to basically double his TDs and cut his INTs in half to reach those numbers.

Sure the guy is going to improve this year, but that would be a massive improvement.

If Sanchezs numbers looked like that the Jets would go 14-2 or better and easily win the superbowl with almost no resistance

Oh and increase his passing yards by only 50%

    1) Yes, the Ravens should have a top 5 offensive line again this year. But so should we. In my opinion, we had the BEST offensive line in the league last year, along with the best running game. And what were the "radical changes" to our O-line that you speak of? Replacing the weakest link of our O-line last year with Slauson. I don't see the loss being particularly dramatic. Slauson's weakness is in pass-blocking and so was Faneca's. Our O-Line, if healthy, should dominate again for the most part.

    2) In my opinion, you are marginally overrating Ray Rice. )"Going forward Ray Rice is the best hb in the nfl") Better than Chris Johnson?? No way.

Since when are these people ever correct?

It's good we weren't picked. It's usually a death sentence

Slauson/Ducasse have come close to getting Sanchez killed in the preseason. Sure they could be satisfactory but wed be incredibly fortunate to see them perform at a top level.

And I dont see it as too much of a stretch. Rice is already a better recieving threat and I dont think hes going to get burnt out as quickly as Chris Johnson. Johnson had 360 fricken carries last year thats insane. And I feel like a large part of Johnsons success is his top end speed, which wont be so top end in a few years.

Johnson is definitely going to be the best guy in the short term future, but I think Rice has the ability to remain a complete stud for years to come and have a career similar to Barry Sanders.

And it also helps that Rice is almost a year and a half younger than Chris Johnson

True but here are Peyton Manning's rookie numbers:

    26 TDs 28 INTs 3739 Yards 56.7 PCT 71.2 Quarterback Rating

Now here is his second year:

    26 TDs 15 INTs 4135 Yards 62.1 PCT 90.7 Quarterback Rating

Young quarterbacks who eventually become stars, often improve rapidly. I'm not saying Mark Sanchez is the next Peyton Manning, I'm just using Peyton Manning's early career to demonstrate how quickly a young quarterback can improve. Also, remember that the Jets ran the ball an incredible number of times last season. If Sanchez plays well early in the season, you can expect a lot more opportunities for him to rack up passing yards and TDs.

The Preseason means nothing. I just can't allow myself to try and rationally derive expectations from it. There's no gameplanning, there's a miss-mosh of players on the field at any given time, and most of the veteran players simply don't give a fuck about the games.

As for Rice, I agree that he is a terrific young player but I just don't think he is blessed with anywhere near the pure athletic dominance that Chris Johnson is. JMO.

So even there you have a guy that many consider to be the best regular season qb in the history of the game, and his improvements dont come even remotely close to what Sanchez would have to do to hit Flaccos numbers.

Yeah he cut back on INTs drastically and I think we could see that from Sanchez with some improved decision making. But Peyton did that while throwing the ball almost the same amount of times. For Sanchez to cut his ints in half while throwing the ball at least 50% more (to get those added yards/tds) would mean this guy could be on track to be a completely elite QB in the very near future

Well, the bolded is possible. But, regardless, if you want I could find a more glaring improvement than Peyton Manning from his first to second year?. The point wasn't to try and find an improvement just as drastic as Sanchez's improvement would have to be for him to reach Flacco's numbers, it was simply that drastic improvements DO occur from one season to the next in young quarterbacks.

Exactly. It's time for Rex to show some of this great coaching ability and galvanize this team. I'm interested to see how they do with actually expectations.
