Because the Jets have sucked for 40 years. They've tried everything, and the result? Pretty much suckiness. A handful of times they've not sucked, sure, but for the most part those moments have been small glimmers of hope in a sea of dreary, horrible reality.

I just can't understand why so many people are hopping on the bandwagon that all this trash talk is going to hurt the team. They've hurt themselves in an infinite amount of other ways over the past four decades, why not give a new way a shot? I mean damn, you hear these moronic "old time Jet fans" call into radio shows and say they should let their play on the field do the talking. Why? What has that attitude EVER done for the Jets? Absolutely nothing.

It's just something to get themselves and fans excited, let them go. If they want to eat cheeseburgers on the field and make fun of other team's linebackers, who cares? Will not doing those things help them win? Apparently fucking not, because they haven't done it. All I know is that if the Jets didn't have loudmouth Rex Ryan they also wouldn't have Bart Scott, Jim Leonhard, Jason Taylor, and a host of other guys.

When you hear people bashing Rex for his attitude just ask to see the Jets Super Bowl Blueprint. There isn't any, and whoever is bad mouthing Rex couldn't possibly tell you the right way for the Jets to win a Super Bowl.

It's like if I were trying to build a house out of bricks. Is that the best way to do it? I don't know, but I'm certainly not going to listen to the opinions of the people who've been trying to build houses out of wet cardboard and dogshit for almost half a century.

Will Rex's way work? Probably not, but at least it's something to try, because we as fans are pretty much running out of reasons to get excited about this organization.

(I know I'll probably get a few people saying "why not post this in the thousand other Rex threads", but it belongs in every single thread and I didn't feel like spamming.)

I would also point out that the only other time they won it all they were led by someone who many people criticized for being an obnoxious loudmouth who proclaimed the worth of his own team too much.

Bingo. And I was wrong to specify only "old time Jet fans" as the main culprits in the idiocy, there are quite a bit of younger fans who say the same things.

Rex Ryan led this Jets team to the AFC Championship game during his first year as head coach, that alone is impressive. We did it with a rookie QB, thanks to a top of the line defense, as well as a rushing attack that broke a franchise record for most rushing yards during a single season. Rex Ryan has changed the culture of this franchise.

You know what else is even more impressive? He did it without one of, if not the most dominating 3-4 NT's in the league in Kris Jenkins. The NT position has always ranked right up there with the QB and LT positions.

This man has been the best thing that has happened to this franchise since Bill Parcells. Not only is Rex respected by his own players, but he's also respected by the league.

The players love to play for Rex, which is huge. He's like one of the guys, and the players take to that.

As long as the Jets have Mr.Ryan running the show, we should never have any problems landing talented players during the offseason.

The #1 reason why its stupid to bash Rex Ryan is because hes a good coach picking up good players and building a team with the potential to be consistentenly good for several years, whens the last time the Jets had that??? Lets see in the 19 years of my life, aboslutely fucking NEVER. For the first time in a long time the team has confindence, and Im kinda dissapointed to hear you automatically darkside and say that Rex's method "probably wont work" take a page out the book your praising and have some hope.

I dont get how someone could say Ryan isnt a good coach considering he took a totally meh defence and turned it into the best one in the league, or lead what was widely considered a mediocre team full of nobodys and bring them within 30 mins of the superbowl against a stacked team that started the season 14-0. I feel as though most Jets fans that dont like Rex's smack talk is becuase of the fear that we do end up not living up to that were never gonna hear the end of it and we'll end up looking stupid or maybe the fact that look "classy". The Raiders werent classy back in the day, but nobody ever beat them, same for the Canes in the 80's. I say find what works ad stick with it and the jets over-confident, shit talking, big dick swag method is definitely working. For the first time I can recall the Jets are playing hard like a team that actually gives a shit about winning, and are willing to fight hard and go that extra 10% to get it, ill chalk that up to Rex Ryan

there is something to be said for carrying yourself with a bit of class.

a little bravado is one thing, making excuses when bart scott makes a retarded play saying... dont be mad at him i told him to be like that. that is crap and not something i want to be a part of jets football. there have been many guys who have won without being douchebags. to call those who disagree with his method idiots shows your immaturity.

    Dude, too much Hard Knocks....

Telling a player to play with passion, get excited, show some fire has been in the NFL before we were even on this planet.

SHouldn't be part of JETS football?
I've been waiting for FIRE like this all my damn life!!!

and If you wanna really be critical? The O-Linemen totally started the shit by roughing him up after the play was dead...but not, you want him to play like a bitch and take that?
"You take out one of ours, we'll take out 2 of yours"

If you ain't ready for that, then turn your set off and go watch Generation JETS...

Ryan had a good season as a rookie head coach. He clearly is a good leader of men and a good HC. If people want to trash him they will.

Its funny though, bellicik got caught red handed cheating and maintaining a private video library of his cheating and he was fined like 500K - yet some of these idiots refused to criticize him at all.

But if somebody says Fuck on HBO and believes in their team winning it all, suddenly the mike franchescas of the world think he should be trashed.

I must have missed the part where Jets fans are ragging on Ryan. I have seen and heard little to nothing of that. If you are going by sport talk radio callers, those calls are screened. They only allow fans who want to rag on Ryan to get on the air. The same ones who get on saying the Jets should drop their drawers for Revis and pay him whatever he wants, no matter how ridiculous it is.

I don't see Rayn getting attacked here... just tools like Bradshaw and Dungy, along with some of the reporters. I happen to be "an old time Jets fan" and I think Ryan is great. A little over the top at times, but that's fine. I'm thrilled he is our HC.

i am pretty sure rex said dont be mad i told him to play like that and the other coach said playing with passion is one thing doing something retarded like that is another.

everyone wants passion, nobody wants stupidity. there is a very fine line.

but as I said in my last line, what did he do?

The Lineman roughed him up after the play, you'd rather him just be a punk and show no fire?

Rex is obviously a breath of fresh air. I have never been so pumped for a Jets team and that's because of Rex. I never felt that any other Jets team was all in, if you know what I mean. They paid lip service but they were content with making the playoffs or making a profit. It's clear what the goal is and NOTHING less will suffice. REFRESHING.

Exactly, I can't believe that anyone who saw that play would think he was being a jerk rather than simply defending himself.

Idiocy- utterly senseless or foolish behavior. To say that Rex's team won't be successful because of how he acts when the opposite has been totally unsuccessful, and in the face of fair success just a season ago is rather senseless and foolish to me. Lot of guys have been successes without being like Rex, but they have never been Jets.

And should you really be talking maturity calling someone a "cocksucker" in your signature?

Someday, alleycat9, I promise you you'll find an appropriate moment for your righteous indignation. Just keep being indignant about everything and eventually you'll find it.

A retarded play? Stupidity? What was retarded about what Bart Scott did after that tackle dropped an elbow on his head? Did it result in a flag? A fine? A suspension? Should Bart Scott have jumped to his feet and said "pardon me sir, I found that last maneuver very unsportsmanlike?"

I know, I know, what a poignant, apropos comment HBO caught from Mike Pettine. I guarantee you Bart Scott pointed out the play afterward to Pettine and Pettine retracted his comment. But the cameras don't capture moments like those, right?

Calling Woody a cocksucker illustrates how delusional you are. He has actually accomplished something in his lifetime. Oh right you do own a trailer park home.
