Last year, after the Jets raced to a 3-0 start, Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez acknowledged that he's known in the locker room as the "Sanchize."

"The Sanchize thing is just funny," Sanchez said in September 2009. "Guys in here call me that and Rex [Ryan] calls me that all the time. That's just the way it is around here. You play quarterback in New York and you get a lot of attention. . . . That's just the kind of stage I'm playing on."

And we haven't heard that nickname much since then.

After notching the best regular-season game of his career, the "Sanchize" is back. Despite the fact that, six days ago, he was anything but a franchise quarterback.

The question now becomes whether Sanchez can build confidence and feel the game slow down after racking up a 124.3 passer rating against the Patriots. If he can, he could have more triple-digit passing performances. If he can't, he'll continue to see his numbers swing wildly from good to bad, like they did last season.

But there's a big difference this year. After road games at Miami and Buffalo, Sanchez will add to his arsenal a weapon who holds the title that Sanchez surely aspires to achieve -- Super Bowl MVP.

Yes, as of Week Five, receiver Santonio Holmes will make his debut. And it could push Sanchize and the rest of the offense to a level that, only six days ago, would have been inconceivable.

It's amazing how a week can change. ESPN was calling him Matt Leinhart last week.

It was one game. Just wait until his first multiple INT game, fans will start crucifying him again.

Didn't we have this EXACT thread last year during the playoffs?

Yeah but I think there is a big difference from last year. Sanchez has proven he can get it done this year too. Part of me is/was still a bit concerned that last year wasn't some "Magic" year or something for him. He still has the rest of the year to go though and continue to open up the passing game. Sanchez doesn't have to go crazy for our success, but right now our defense is a little banged up and needs the offense to produce. I want to see another good game out of Sanchez!

There will almost certainly still be some stinkers from Sanchez this season. He will have ups and downs and the trick for him and the coaching staff will be to be more consistent.

We've seen very good things from him so there's reason for optimism, we need him to become consistently good and we'll be in great shape.

I am NOT a darksider, but he had one great game and one terrible game.. lets see how he does next week before we call this season a success.

This is it. The rest of the season won't be without a few more bumps in the road. If he can keep from totally imploding when he is having a rough day hopefully the D and running game will be able to pick him up on those days this year.

Considering top QBs have bad games too, let's not crucify him if he happens to throw 3 INTs one week.

Its football, its going to happen.

But we'd like to see this progression continue.

14 completions/1.4 TDs and 160 yds/game. Decent numbers, but certainly not worth applauding. But it works for you guys since it fits your style of play, he wins within your system. But having a good game 4 times a year doesn't make you a star or franchise QB.

That Miami secondary looked great. If Sanchez escapes without an INT, I'd be shocked.

They've played the Bills and Favre with no weapons.

They haven't played a team with an actual offense.

I think it will be a grind it out, down to the wire, divisional war.

I expect Sanchez to toss a pick or two, just as I expect Henne to do the same. We just need to avoid any late game backbreakers.

They still looked good. You can tell the defense is going to be a good one. I wouldn't exactly say our offense has arrived either just yet.
