You laughed at me when I said they could win the division this year. Now they're 4-1 and they've already beaten the Saints down in the Super Dome. They are the real deal and possibly the best team in the NFC right now.

Some of those wins were miracles, especially the interception turned fumble play.

"The greatest characteristic of the NFL is parity. There are no easy blowout games guaranteed. Every team can win on any given Sunday. Even the "bad" teams can beat good teams. There is so much garbage on this message board about how the Falcons should have blown out these "bad" teams, or we had "lucky" wins. That is ridiculous. There are no easy games in the NFL. If you win the game, you did what it takes to win and the other team didn't. Period. All of this garbage about how the Falcons are not good because we are not blowing out the "bad" teams is just plain stupid. We are 4-1, and our 1 loss was an OT loss against one of the best teams in the NFL. THAT MAKES US ONE OF THE BEST TEAMS IN THE NFL!!! Quit the moronic negativity and enjoy that we are one of the best teams in the league." - Rev Hal (Falcons Message Board)

I've watched just about every falcons game this season. With the exception of the steelers game, the falcons have dominated the stats even though the score was much closer.

Well then you must be a Falcons fan.

But to think these wins are good because they "dominated the stats" is not a good argument to make. Remember the Jets running for almost 300 yards on the Bills last year? Stats don't mean shit in those cases.

I am not saying the Falcons are a bad team, but they did pull off one miracle win.

I'd say they're clearly an elite NFC team. Instead of saying they're #1 I'd rank 'em in the first tier of teams along with:

    - Packers
    - Redskins
    - Saints

I know those 3 teams that I listed aren't all that great right now but.. who else is there? The Giants? Eagles? Yup, the NFC is pretty terrible.

If that's all the NFC has to offer, they're fucked.

Looks like an AFC teams is going to win the Super Bowl this year because no one in the NFC is that scary right now.

Another interesting NFC note: the cardinals beat the saints 30-20 without scoring a single offensive touchdown.

The Redskins are an elite team? Really? They're a dropped pass an a couple of penalties away from being 0-5. The NFC is a complete mess right now, I'm not sure you could pick a team that is playing consistently well

Hate to say it, but the Giants looked awfully good yesterday.

Their receivers are tough to stop. Three quality guys in Smith, Nicks and Manningham.

I was about to write that before your post. Yesterday's overtime game was the worst 3-2 team vs. the best. Packers could easily be 5-0, Redskins could easily be 0-5.

The packers are injured and even then, they're overrated. That team is a penalty machine.

the redskins have actually played incredibly well. they've hung in games and beat people when it counted. They actually could be 4-1. Texans got lucky.

I watched that game and it was the saints who were lucky to even have a chip shot chance to win. Falcons kicked tail in that game.

not to pull a Junc, but have you watched them play? they certainly don't look great despite their record. great, they have 1 loss; so do the Chiefs.

that being said, I hope they make it to the Super Bowl. we were supposed to beat the shit out of them in '98, so we will be long overdue for the matchup.
