I'm just the opposite, when he throws the ball short between the seams my heart goes in my throat because that's where a lot of his picks come from. When he throws it deep I'm fine with it because he almost never gets picked off on a long pass.
Have to be annoyed at the crazy thunderstorm before the halftime that basically screwed us with so many catches THE RAIN FUCKED US hard on that throw to Cotchery there and Keller had the ball and it slipped through his hands All those chances and Vikings defense held us in check, but that last drive before halftime should have beena TD for us HORRIBLE SEQUENCE CALLED BY SCHOTTY by not running the ball at all with 58 seconds to go in the 2nd quarter Then he decides to play like a pussy and run everytime, good for us though that the Greene and LT combination pounded that Vikings ass to the ground
I don't see how we got "lucky". We dominated the game for 2.5 quarters and had ample chances to put the game away early and missed those opportunities. We missed opportunities early and they missed opportunities late
Look at it this way, Santonio dropped a bunch of passes, Pace missed an easy sack and gave them 15 yards, Pool blitzed waay too late, Leonhard was out of position against Harvin twice, Sanchez had truly poor clock management, Rex called the worst possible plays on 3rd and long and we STILL won. Like game 4 last year, except we gutted out the win. Great teams win even when they make lots of mistakes. This is one of those wins.
That thunderstorm bascially screwed the offense out of 8 extra points in the first half, if anything I'm worried about the D.
The second and 11 pass was a decent call if you snap it at the right time. Run or pass the clock stops. Why he snapped it early was nuts. Parcell teams...the Patriot teams...the great teams...are not afraid to pass the ball to put a game away. Why Sanchez snapped the ball was a young guy mistake. If I were to come down on Rex its that this defense with all the scheme blitzing, is being exposed in long durations. They play lights out until an offense makes an adjustment and we have nothing to counter that adjustment until its either too late or our offense puts a drive together to slow things down. I have always believed that when you count on CB's and safetys to provide pressure...there is no way to change the gameplan when its not working. Until we get a proven pass rush from our front line..this is a constant concern. Could be wrong...but its getting a bit old watching pressue come from the outside little guys.
This game is why I hate Brian Schottenheimer. We never trailed the Vikings yet Sanchez threw 44 times and Shonn Greene only ran 10 times. Rex needs to get a grip on the offense. The situational play calls almost killed us today. That being said: FUCK YEA!!! J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!
If anything it made for some damn entertaining television and the Jets won. So all-in-all it was a successful night.
I thought Sanchez took too many chances. I mean, yeah, when you see one on one, take a shot now and then, but not every damn time.
I think Schottenheimer called an awful game. RR's defense was damn good for the majority of the game, the two 3rd and long TDs for Minnesota are sticking out in everyone's minds. Yes, clock management was poor as well, but they were playing to win at the end. It wasn't a good game for RR, but we won, so fuck it.
I agree that Rex will learn from this like his mistakes from early on...But I was pulling my hair when he was being overly aggressive in the last 2 minutes to go
I gotta disagree here. Good teams make plays regardless of weather. There were way too many risky pass plays in rain tonight. The defense is responsible for the win tonight imo, no question. Mark Sanchez took the blame for the clock management in the 4th. He said "we won this game this year, but we wouldn't win this game last year". Also took credit for some of Dustin Keller's troubles tonight.
If Rex's worst game ever as a HC resulted in a win against a very good team coming off a bye, then we have one hell of a coach.
Agreed. We need to get much more pressure from our line and whichever LB is rushing. Or more consistent pressure. Hopefully if Jenks makes a recovery and cuts his salary he can contribute in that role. Spending a draft pick on a DL would be nice too.
