There is no gray area, it's one or the other. Reading this on the train this morning I couldn't make up my mind. I was torn - it's just horrific writing that is trying way too hard, but then again it has that "so bad that it becomes amazing and you laugh at it" thing going on. http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/jets/late_takeoff_but_jets_land_safely_lzfWlIuPE8mcQN5We9r3iK George Willis has succeeded at something here, I'm just not sure what it is yet... As an aside, it's nice to have this sort of thing be the focal point of my morning, because it means the Jets found a way to win a game that had more calls that made me, clad in green, mouth something that my 1 year old son discharges from his rectum after he ingests his first meal of the day.
For the sake of clarity, I scream "THAT'S BABY DIARRHEA!" when I'm watching a game and disagree with a call.
Wait, are you asking if the second sentence in an article was the best first sentence ever? :breakdance:
Considering Willis is a columnist not a beat writer, he can pretty much write whatever his editor lets fly. Columnists have a lot of string to play with when it comes to their writing.
