I chose "other"....because I think the entire oline deserves a collective MVP. Reasons: - LT's resurgence - Sanchez is still upright - games are won in the trenches - Slauson's improvement made us forget about Faneca EDIT: If i had to pick a player....I'll go with Mangold...he's the heart of the oline.
It's hard to make a case against anyone, which means there really isn't a MVP player on the team. It's truly a cohesive unit filled with guys on both sides of the ball who've embraced their individual roles. LT has been reborn. Sanchez is playing without a sophomore slump. AlCROtraz has done well filling in for Revis Island. Pouha has filled the gap left by Jenkins nicely. Harris is Harris. Scott is Scott. Folk has been the guy the coaching staff was convinced he was. Weatherford is great. Braylon, one drunk ride aside, has been brilliant. Keller has been dominant. Brad Smith is sick. You can go on and on through every starter on the team and argue their impact. That's why my vote for MVP right now, and almost surely for the entire year, is: Rex Ryan. He's the oil that keeps this machine running smooth even when we're missing guys like Holmes, Pace, Revis and Jenkins. Or Clowney. Oh. Wait. HOLLA!
oh for sure. But the oline as a collective (and coach Callahan) have helped Slauson improve....the blocks he threw for LT's 2 TDs against Denver were awesome.
That second one at the 2yrd line. Damn LT just followed him in. In a couple of years, we might be calling him "Slawesome" The credit goes to someone on the board. I forget who said it.
Haha, I hear ya. He's def getting props from me this year. Not for MVP, but he's surely gotten my attention this year...in a good way for once.
Never thought I would vote for the punter, but considering the improvement over last year, it's gotta be Steve Weatherford for me. A lot of other guys are playing good football. Dustin Keller was the MVP for about three or four games, but has cooled off a bit. Even, gulp, Nick Folk is doing good things. You know what, the entire Jets Special Teams Unit. Has there been anyone better this year?
The easy answer is LT, but since punters get no respect I'm going with Steve Weatherford. Field position wins close games, and he's been absolutely money.
You have to put Cromartie and Sanchez ahead of LT. He has been great for sure, but I feel with the O-line, Shonne Greene would have been fine carrying the load with Woodhead, or McKnight or Thomas Jones or whoever. NOBODY could replace what Sanchez or Cromartie did, thats why they are more important, thus MVP's.
Isn't it great having multiple candidates? We could make strong cases for Sanchez, LT, Keller, Braylon, Brick, Mangold, Harris, Cromartie, Folk, Weatherford, Brad Smith(insert leon Washington joke here),... I agree about LT being front runner for CPOY.
You are right Kellen, hard to disagree. Going with one player on the O-line you would prolly go with DBrick or Mangold. It is a good question asked though. Because its hard to debate when you have such good players, which is rare for Jets fans to be able to do.
Can you actually win this AND MVP? I doubt it, but if you can't I'd almost rather see him win the comeback award. If only the trophy for that was Mike Florio eating a crow...
