yea it was a terrible call. It was good in the sense that no one expected it but if it was 4th and 10 instead of 18 it would of made a lot more sense.
Im sorry, but I hated was that we didn't make it and we were inside our own 20 at the time. He clearly caught the defense off guard and could have made it, but he still missed by inches. It didn't fuck us too hard, but then again its hard to win when you can't score....
not from that spot on the field... never Also Rex just said the same thing in the press conference (that it was Weatherfords call)... that is a terrible decision
it was only a terrible call...because he didn't make it to the first down marker. C'mon guys. I hated the outcome...but it was a gutsy call....there were shittier plays called today than the fake punt.
A gutsy call way deep in our zone... I wouldnt have called it from there because this game was all about one of field position games. But I trust Weatherford on those fake punts more times than not. He is a fast fucker.
It was a terrible call because it was a 0-0 game and it was 4th and 20 from deep in our own territory. It's not just because he didn't make it.
the point i was making....is that we'd all be on Weatherford's nuts if he makes that first down. I liked the call....just not the outcome.
I didn't like the call, but we damn near made it. Still doesn't make it the correct call. Had me shaking my head like WTF....
I understand exactly what you're saying. I disagree. There was really no need to take that big of a risk in that situation. Rex needs to take the keys away from this kid to make that call in that situation.
It was a gutsy call and I don't take issue with it. We didn't lose because of that and it was very close to gaining it. In fact the only thing that prevented us from getting it was a good challenge by the Packers because he was very close to staying in bounds.
I don't even 15 year old snot nosed kids on Xbox Live run a fake punt from that spot on the field on 4th and 18. Not even if they sub in Ty Law and his 99 Speed rating.
It was a bad call, just like when he did the same thing in Oakland last season (it did work then). However, it didn't matter because the Jets did not score any points today.
I liked the call at the time and still do. He clearly caught them off guard; his foot doesn't slide like that and he makes it. Besides, that play cost us 3 points, basically. That wasn't the game.
Sorry, but that's terrible. When you're the coach and you make a call like that you understand that it's just one call of many that you're going to make, and some of them won't work out. If you're the punter and you call a fake punt on 4th and 18 from your own 20 yard line you simply HAVE to make it; you don't get to appeal to the "we'll get 'em next time boys" in that situation. It's not Weatherford's job to decide if a gamble of that magnitude is worth it or not; that's what Westhoff and Ryan are for.
