Sure, he had some drops against the Packers, but he had some nice catches too. Tip toed the sidelines for a 1st down....caught a 49 yard pass in the middle of the field all the way to GB's 28 yardline. Caught a rocket that Sanchez threw right off his break for a 1st down. Even the drops weren't quite as bad as people are making them out to be. We just aren't used to Cotch dropping anything at all. The one on the sideline he should have caught for sure. Another one was throw in the ground by Sanchez, the ball got absolutely drilled out of his hands on that big play over the middle and he was covered by 2-3 guys in a jump-ball in the endzone. I was really surprised they didn't target Braylon more though. Only 3 times that I can recall. Strange as they had been targeting him and Keller the most it seemed.
Amen! I heard a stat the other day that said through the 1st 7 weeks of the season, the teams with 100 yard rushers had a winning percentage of like 0.700 while teams with 300 yards passers was less than 0.400. That's like that every year. I love Sanchez but he is not yet at point where our winning % increases the more he throws. That probably can be said for most QBs not named Manning, Rivers, Rogers, Brees or Brady. Even if their d-line was healthy, this should have been a ground and pound game. The fact that they 3 d-linemen on the active roster makes it even more comical that we threw the ball as much as we did. In the words of Dennis Greene "we let them off he hook." Both our 2 losses can be attributed to the OC's game plan playing right into the hands of the opposing defense. -Baltimore: came in with one of the best front 7s in football and a bunch of back ups in the secondary. What is our game plan? Run the ball to ad nauseum. Green Bay : decimated by injuries in their front seven and have one of the best secondaries in football. What is our game plan? Throw the ball all over the place. Makes no sense.
I think there may be something to Abyzmuls thought that he may be playing with a sprained or broken finger. You don't just forget how to catch all of the sudden.
I hope Abyzmul is right....because these drops are uncharacteristic of a guy with his talent and track record. But if he's healthy...and it turns out to be a lapse in concentration problem.....oh man.
Do you really doubt that he'll rebound? He knows someone will likely be leaving this receiving corps after the season, so if he's hurt he is probably trying to play through it to prove he still belongs...and it's backfiring. Still, it wouldn't make sense for him to not appear on the injury list if that's the case.
this is what makes me question the injured hand/finger excuse. I think he rebounds though....he's been too reliable in the past not to. But, Sanchez hit him square in the #'s with that slant pass in the red zone.....that's a reception he SHOULD HAVE MADE. Something ain't right there.
That was an awful drop, worse than any in the GB game imo. Hit him square in the numbers and it just bounced onto the turf.
Are you referring to the slant? The ball was thrown a little underneath his waste, nowhere near the ground, and it was a extremely catchable ball. I can't throw this guy under a bus because of just how damn consistent he has been his whole career. I think he goes out and has a huge game next week, and all is forgotten.
To be honest I don't know what aggravated me more, the drops or when he decided to race Holmes to the endsone instead of behind him and at least be an obstacle to a potential tackler.
I'm going with woman problems. Totally unsupported, I have no links, nor have I read anything anywhere. But his complete and uncharacteristic lack of concentration- only awoman fucking up your life can do that shit to a man!
Thought i was the only one who noticed him runnin along Holmes instead of tryin to block that Linebacker but hey we won so it really doesnt matter all that much.
