I see you don't want to let this go. My point, again, wasn't about Woodhead carrying the ball 20 times, or how many TD's he gets. My point was, if the Jets need to rely on E. Smith's coverage skills, IMO we are screwed. Do you think he has good coverage skills? What I don't want to see is NE consistantly running 3rd and 3 or 4 short passes to Woodhead, or whoever ES is covering, and maintaining possessions for 8-9 minutes. Who do you think Brady is going to target Monday when he needs a play? By the way, my concerns over Woodhead have nothing to do with him being a former Jet. I also, never called you ignorant, I said your statement that Woodhead and Faulk are the same, ignorant. Why not call Brady the same as Shaun Hill because they are both starting qb"s.
It all correlates. I don't see Woodhead and Smith matching up more than 6 times, but he's taken out the short option before. Now if Woodhead runs a wheel route, Smith will get burned. But a route into the flat he can deal with. Brady will target Woodhead 2-4 times in the passing game, and he'll get 7 carries. He's not some explosive great player. He's a role player. This is what they've done with him all year. He gets an average of 10 touches a game. You give someone who's explosive more touches than that. And calling Brady and Shaun hill the same because they're QBs is an atrocious example. That's like saying Woodhead and Barry Sanders are the same because they are running backs. Now Shaun Hill and Jon Kitna? They are the same player.
Again, IMO, Brady will target whoever ES is covering, more often than not when he needs a play. We will see what happens. I really hope that ES is up to the challenge, but I'm not holding my breath. Yes, I do know that comparing Brady and S.Hill is atrocious, that was my point. Let's go JETS.
I expect Rex to have some new wrinkles in there and this could be one of them. He can't run the blitzes that haven't been effective because a blitz that doesn't get there or close to it quickly will get killed by Brady.
