Is it because of the championships they won only 6 or 7 seasons ago, which have no relevance on today's game? Is it because they've blown out really crappy teams? I'm honestly confused. The Jets wins count just as much as the Pats' do. Yet, it seems as if the Pats continuously get the benefit of the doubt from the media and all its talking heads. I'm sick of always having to be the underdog and prove that we're the best, even when we're arguably the most talented team in the league on both sides and share the best record.
Patriots are humble And no-one likes the attention getters & big mouth types. Rex Ryan is a clown & a slob
I don't want to marginalize our wins, but the Jets are getting less respect than the Pats because we have struggled to beat teams that we should beat. When you have to pull out last minute wins against lesser opponents, people think you're not that good. We've beaten 1 legit team....the Pats. The other 2 playoff contenders (Ravens and Packers) were losses. The Patriots have beaten the Ravens, Chargers, Steelers, and Colts. In the standings, all games count the same. In public opinion, they don't. If the Jets beat the Pats in Foxboro, public opinion should change. If they lose, everyone will say we're not that good. Also, being the most talented team in the league does not make you the best team in the league. Start winning against the big boys and then we can say we are living up to our potential.
On another thread the other day I did concede that a Jet loss coupled with the situation you referred to would have the potential to injure team morale going forward. I think that would be a legitimate concern. Other than that, though, I don't give a crap what other people think, particularly morons in the sports press and media. You shouldn't, either. In any event, I think despite the above concern that Ryan uses what you refer to as a motivator. So it has some benefit, on top of not being a real concern, imo, other than as noted.
Belichick is a smug cunt hair......if I had no clue who Belichick was, I'd still want to punch him in the face. Rex Ryan relates to the fanbase a lot better
I can see Patsie fans liking Belichik's results, although even there it's been somewhat spotty the last few years. But in general, he is clearly a psycho.
A big reason is because of the way the pats have had success over the years. Even if they havent won rings they have been a top team and have owned our division for a decade. It's our time to change that, but until we do I have no problem with them saying the Pats are a better team than we are.
Since you asked Of course they would. (general public) right? Rex is the Jets coach so... naturally the Jets fan base likes him, NYC etc... Nationally, BB is "The most interesting man in the world" as far as NFL coaches go. Stay thirsty my friends BTW... Danny Woodhead's jersey is the hottest item at the Patriots Pro Shop, over the past month.
When the Jets actually win something they'll get the love. You ought to embrace your team being the underdog. Though I don't get why you think the Jets are considered underdogs? I haven't read any articles that think the Pats have more talent than the Jets?
While I think there is a definitely some backlash against the Jets from fans across the league because of their bravado, there is way more hate out there for the Pats. If the Jets win a Superbowl, then they'll be hated plenty!
Dude the Pats are ahead of the Jets on on nearly every Power Rankings and are predicted to win by almost every talking head.
