Yup, Cro did get beat a few times and it is pretty easy to figure out when they were... the times that Manning hit Garcon. He is one of the most cerebral QB's to ever play the game, if Cro was toast all night Garcon would have gotten the ball all night.
I feel like if Pool takes the correct angle on this, he has a chance to A) Pick it or B) Break it up. That was the one bad play for pool all game
This. I also thought he sort of made Brad Smith look semi-expendable on kickoffs. He showed excellent speed, and more acceleration. I'm not saying he's hands down better then Smith, but if we lose Smith to free agency and re-sign Cro, Cro could be a very very good guy to have returning kicks for us.
We didn't even discuss Cromartie from Saturday, I wonder why you are brining me into it? Since you did- manning only had 225 yards but half of those yards were at Cromartie! he was awful, thankfully he had the KR so we can forget about it but you can keep burying your head in the sand or falling back on meaningless #s, the facts are he has not been good and was awful the other night.
He gave up 5 catches including one big play for a TD. Against Peyton Manning in a dome. Manning wasn't even looking at Wayne so Garcon was his main guy. He didn't have a great day, it wasn't awful either. You'd like everyone to believe he was toast on every play, if he were Manning would have lit him up terribly. It's OK junc, I understand you're not capable of looking at this situation from a reasonable standpoint. You've made your decision as to what your argument is and now will take everything from the slanted POV that favors that.
The only guy that was hurting us all day was Garcon, who was covering him again? Do you think you have to give up 200 yds to have a bad day? does it have to be 12 recs? Who cares how many recs? Indy scored 16 pts, 10 of them were directly resulted from Cromartie being beaten by Garcon. The TD and then the big 3rd and 8 at our 39 to set up the FG to make it 14-13. On my home from work on Friday I heard an interview w/ Trent Dilfer talking about how poorly Cromartie was playing and that Indy was going to be able to exploit the Cromartie-Garcon match up and guess what happened? Manning to Garcon single handedly kept Indy in that game.
The number of receptions is a direct indication of how often he was open. The Colts scored 16 points on us Junc, in a dome. Go look at how many they scored the previous 5 games. If our offense showed up in the first half we would have won the game easily. He didn't have a good game, but wasn't as terrible as you'd like people to believe. Most of the yardage came on one play, and while it was mostly Cro's fault he didn't get help from 2 team mates that should have been helping there.
ohhh so every time a player is open they are guaranteed to catch a pass? You really do learn something new every day:up: I don't care what Indy scored the previous 5 weeks. They played Dallas(6-10), Ten twice(6-10), Jax(8-8) and Oakland(8-8). Not a winning team among those 5 games. Absolutely if sanchez was on target we can put that game away earlier but you also assume we keep holding them down, strategies change when you are in a shootout. I didn't blame the potential loss on him. I think the 2 goats would have been sanchez and cro but thanfully they both made plays late to help us win but on D Cro was pretty bad. We must watch different games, he continues to be beaten consistently. I don't get why you cannot acknolwedge this.
When you're facing Peyton Manning it's a high probability. You could learn a lot on this board if you listened to others more and stopped being so hard headed about forcing your opinions on people. I never said he doesn't get beat. I've said he does, he's not Revis. Every CB gets beat every game.
I try to learn but when someone is telling me Cromartie has been good I cannot take that person seriously. Stevie Wonder could see how bad Cro was the other night, my wife was making comments about how bad he was that's how easy it was to tell. Maybe being opposite Revis makes him look worse than he is? but a good #2 shouldn't be getting beat as often as he is.
When they had him playing so far off the LOS he was getting beat on the first 2-3 steps of the receivers routes. I'm not sure why they continue putting him in that position when it's clear he has trouble reading and reacting from that position. I guarantee he'd have been in better position on that Garcon TD if he weren't lined up 10 yards off the LOS. It looked like Coleman was supposed to push him further outside toward Cro, hard to say, but he needs to improve his reactions when he's lined up that way.
So what do you make of rex chewing him out on the sidelines? do we EVER see Rex go off on a player like that?
Of course you're going to act like I'm absolving Cromartie of fault. I've said all along it was mostly his fault. You don't think Coleman and Pool also missed on that play? If not then this is another situation you could learn instead of being so hell bent on stating your side of an argument.
You brought me into this not the other way around, if you don't like the truth don't drag me into these threads. I never blamed Cro 100% on that play or for the game but the 2 biggest goats if we lost would ahve been Sanchez and cromartie- do you disagree w/ that?
I would have put most of the blame on the offense/sanchez/schotty for being MIA in the first half, Cro would have been next on the list.
You know how happy I am w/ sanchez as our QB but that was on him not the playcalling, he was erratic w/ his throws. Thankfully both he and cro had a chance to make plays late and win the game. I expect mark will bounce back and play a complete game, I don't have as much confidence in Cromartie though obviously I hope I am wrong.
I would be shocked if he was back, he pretty much said he is deifnitely retiring if the Jets win the SB so let's make sure:smile:
I'm starting to believe there's really something to Sanchez having time off and playing poorly in the next game. He really stepped it up in the second half after a terrible first half. I would have preferred more of a ground game in the first half too.
I give Cromartie big time credit for his performance against the Colts. Manning had his mind made up the entire game; he wasn't testing Revis one bit. Cromartie had to man up against a really talented WR, a WR that Manning focused on for 4 quarters strong. Cromartie and the Jets defense may have got beat for a TD, but if Cromartie wasn't on his A-game, as we all know; Manning would have not only picked on Cro, but #18 would have also picked apart Cro and the Jets alive like never before. Cromartie is one of the most gifted athletes in the league. He's one of the best man to man cover corners around. The problem lies when he's playing off or in zone coverage. I could care less that Brady uses all 7 of his weapons. I want Revis on Welker during each and every snap of the ball. I also want Cromartie going man up with Branch the entire game. Take away Welker and Branch, and leave it up to two rookie TE's, Green-Ellis, Woodhead (may not play) and Eddelman to try and beat us. Revis & Cro can change this GM
