The ground game hasn't been that efficient in a while, if we can control the clock against NE like we did in the 2nd half vs. Indy I like our chances.
Cromartie hasn't turned into something other than what he was before we traded for him. I think I can count on one hand the number of times I have seen him effectively utilize the 5 yard bump rule, maybe because he has no confidence in his backpedal, maybe because he has too much confidence in his closing speed. Whatever the case, expecting him to play like Revis is unrealistic. But expecting him to play much better than he did Saturday night is far from asking too much. The KR was a gift, but it was a gift we probably would not have needed if Cro hadn't gotten abused like that by Garcon. That's not what premier cornerbacks do in this league.
My girlfriend, who rarely watches sports, makes comments about the games too, doesn't mean they're right. Cro was burned on one play, that's it. I agree he's not physical enough, and plays like a pansy at times, however, he's still a very good corner and an exceptional #2. Most teams could only dream of saying that someone like Cromartie is their #2. To only give up one touchdown in a game against Manning is a great feat. I can't see how people are griping over this.
a good corner to me.... is one that tries to set up a pick ....i never see that with cro....he just chases ....and his back is always turned .......he is average at best imho....revis is ALWAYS ball hunting
He was beaten on one play? are you sure about this? our D only gave up one TD so he gave up 100% of the TDs our D gave up. The D overall played well, Cromartie did not.
Obviously he was beat more than once. That one was the killer though - if not for that play no one is talking about him in a negative light today. And LOL at 100% of our TD's. Nice stat junc.
I know. How could anyone complain? Since Wayne became "irrelevant", Cro's was the only real option for Manning to be any aggressive, and he attacked him. Cro's weakness seems to show up when he's not playing at the LoS. Even the Al-Micheal (I think) pointed it out. When he play physical, he can jam the receivers at the LoS, interrupting the QB-WR timing. I'd like to see more of that against the Pats especially that play a fine timing-route game. Slight disruption can easily cause incompletions and maybe even picks. Forget about pressuring Brady. They won't be throwing the deep ball too often.
No, he gave up 50% of the all TDs scored on our D. 50% was on Pool. Infact, that whole play was on Pool since Pool was the deep safety while Cro covered the under route. So yeah, you are wrong yet again.
Total contradiction. You might as well use the "He's a good kick returner so he must be a good cornerback" defense. I don't get all the Cromartie apologist's on this board. With all the balls thrown his way, he's got a grand total of 3 ints. He's a meek tackler, never gets his hands on a rcvr at the los, doesn't re-direct opponents pass routes, never gets his head around, and doesn't seem to be aware of the down & distance or the defensive calls. The 3rd & 8 he gave up to Garcon sums up his weaknesses perfectly. Cromartie was lined up on the line. At the snap he just turned and started running to the outside with his back to Garcon who slanted in and caught the ball 6 yrds. deep and ran for another 10 yrds. before Cro caught up and finally got him down after another 5 yards. 20plus yards gained and the Colts were now in FG range. He should of just stood there at the snap...Garcon would have had to run around him at least. That would have thrown off the timing more and he would have been closer when Garcon caught the ball. Watch Revis on the same play. His man ran the mirror image pattern and Revis played him tight and correctly. If the ball had been thrown that way, Revis was in position to swat it away or tackle his man before the 1st down marker. All Cromartie did was give up a critical 1st down and get in the way of real football players trying to make a tackle. Thanks.
huh? What part of my statement was a contradiction? What? What the fuck are you talking about? Exaggerate much? He NEVER does a lot of things for a guy who keeps getting the start. I must be misremembering that play, I thought he was lined up 5-10 yards off the LOS on that one. You're comparing him to the best CB in the game. That was obviously one of the plays he got beat on. The guy gave up 5 receptions to a HOF QB playing on carpet in a dome when he was the #1 target all game. He didn't have a good game (mostly because of one play where he didn't get help he should have), but it's not as if he was picked on all game.
It was mostly Cro's fault, he was in man coverage on him. Could/should Pool have helped - yea - but it was Cro's responsibility first and foremost.
Yes, it was man coverage, but when u have safety on top, you tend to play the under route more often than not. Sure enough, safety help isn't guaranteed, but when its just one guy going deep, the safety better show up. Safety's job to avoid any deep plays and Pool couldn't avoid it. To me, the blame lies on Pool more than it does on Cro, although Cro didn't have good coverage himself either.
On the Fan I think BT said Coleman was suppose to get a jam, Pool had the middle of the field but Cro said it was ultimately his fault because it was his man...... The whole secondary failed on the play(less Revis)
100% of the passes manning threw at revis were cought for positive yardage. 100%!!!! i think rex was yelling at the wrong DB
You contradicted yourself by comparing him to Revis. You wrote 'he's not Revis. Every CB gets beat every game." Was Revis "beat" during the game? There's a reason Cro was "picked on all game" by Peyton. It's because that's where the money is...to quote Willie Sutton. I chose that play because he did everything wrong. Even Taylor knew the ball was going that way...he was in a better position to make a play on the ball than Cromartie...and did. Who should I compare Cromartie to if not Revis? Devin McCourty? OK...he's a rookie, that's fair. McCourty- 82 tackles, seven interceptions, one sack, and 17 passes defensed in 16 games played, all starts. Cro- 41 tackles 3 interceptions 0 sacks, 17 passes defensed in 16 games played, all starts.
I thought it was pretty obvious my intent was to remove Revis from the pool of CB's to compare him to. I guess not. He wasn't picked on all game. If he was there would have been far more completions against him. He had one big play against him and that's why he didn't have a good game. OK fine, I want to rewatch the play because I thought he was lined up 5-10 yards off the LOS which is where it seems like he's struggled. McCourty has had a great rookie season. His INT's set him apart - tied with Samuel for the most in the league. Cromartie had more than 10% better completion percentage against when targeted than McCourty. Cro was targeted 101 times and gave up a 44.6 completion percentage while McCourty was targeted 99 times and gave up a 55.6 completion percentage. Cro also gave up 3 more TD's than McCourty. I think Cro is being asked to play more man coverage though.
