Revis is campaigning for his best friend to keep his job and thinks the 1st round pick who got beat out by Drew Coleman for playing time had a learning curve. Why exactly do people have a problem with this? I love Wilson and think he's going to be a great addition but Revis didn't exactly say anything incorrect here. As for Cro coming back, meh. If it happens at a price that is good for the Jets:great; if it means losing a valuable player to keep him: he can walk. This is the moment I knew your post was bullshit.
THIS to the millionth degree. man Im glad hes on our team, but I really wish he didn't redo his rookie contract with 3 years left that he originally held out for. Makes this offseason pretty uneasy man.
Revis is still just rubbing me the wrong way with his whole lock out last year and now he's offering his opinion on what is a "mistake" - like he's GM material. I wouldn't mind having Cro back next year, and I don't mind Revis talking about wanting to keep him, but he's the guy that held the team hostage for a contract last year. The money thing is still sour to me, especially coming from him of all people. It is a business; I don't think we need Revis reminding us. I feel comfortable enough with this CS and FO that if they elect to let Cro go, they will have a plan to fill the gaps. With the labor situation there is going to be a lot up in the air for a while. I do think the Wilson comments are food to fire the young kid up and hopefully he takes that bait. Nothing wrong with healthy motivation. And I do like the idea of Revis leading the secondary in the off season. It is the kind of thing you like to see from your best player. I don't see where the free agent status should really affect it either. These guys will want to be in shape and be at their best, or they should at least.
Revis can be kind of a clown shoe at times, but he's got a point. Losing Cromartie isn't an option. He's so big and physical. He can be inconsistent at times, but when you have a guy like Revis and a nickel like Kyle Wilson playing around him, he looks formidable.
I mean if we can't keep him part of it is because we pay a shit ton of money to one corner. Granted that one corner is far and away the best in the biz so he's worth it.
Cro is irreplaceable? The guy seems to be bent on giving up a big play before making one of his own most times. He's borderline frustrating. :lol:

Cromartie is big, but he's anything but physical. He's anti-physical. In fact, I think he's the biggest pussy (make that the ONLY one) in the NFL. He has all kinds of talent and potential, but is too lazy and stupid to work harder to apply it and improve. He has proven to be a POS and a waste as a football player and human being. Let his ass walk.
It's not like Revis posted this statement on his personal website, twitter account, or held a news conference. He didn't initiate the conversation about this topic. Remember, these guys have to encounter reporters and questions every day and they are constantly dodging questions. In this case, he was asked to comment about Cromartie on a conference call with ESPNNewYork before the ESPN the weekend at Disney event. What if Revis had said "No comment'. What impact would that have had on the team? reporter - "Revis, can you comment on the Jets letting Cromartie walk?" Revis - "Uhhh... No Comment" That would have come off very callous and would have sent a worse message. For all intents and purposes, Cromartie is still considered part of the team, so of course Revis is going to vouch for him and say something like "the team needs him".
Sooo, you're not a fan of Cromartie? lol. I agree he is not physical, and does have some lapses in judgement. However i don't see how he was a 'waste' as a player. His zone play off the line was where he struggled the most. Man to man though, i thought he had a very good season, and that is what we needed the most. Our CB play wasn't a problem last year, in stark contrast to 2009. Losing Cro would set us back on coverage. I don't anticipate our pass rush to improve 10 fold overnight, so i'm not really comfortable with taking a hit on coverage at this point. It'll come down to money, and how well the FO feel he responds to coaching, work ethic, etc. I'd be shocked if they don't at least try to sign him.
tannenbaum himself could come on this board and make a statement about retaining a guy and everyone would argue with him and tell him how he was retarded. oh and how unimportant he was... this is the way the board is, there really is no fixing it. you just have to learn to live with it. they will also tell him that wilson will be great even though he hasnt shown anything. simply because they WANT him to be great.
Losing Cro is not a mistake, its a smart financial decision when a team has little room under the cap. Cro is good as defending vertical routes, picking balls thrown at him, and returning kicks. He sucks at tackling, jamming wr's at the line, defending short routes, helping in the run game, and in general everything else. So, its not a loss to let him walk when he will want 8-10 mil a year.
