Wilson should be better next year--most second year players are much better as rookies--but he hasn't shown me anything on the field yet to suggest he's ready. He was ok in the Bills exhibition game, but he fell below freaking Cole on the cornerback depth chart and he was barely on the filed (usually fewer than 10 plays a game) the last half of the season.
even without revis' help during TC Wilson, as a rookie playing in an unfamiliar nickel role, proved to be more than a 'halfway-serviceable' CB for us, especially towards the tail end of the season.
Unless im missing something, im pretty sure Kyle Wilson didnt play almost at all towards the tail end of the season. He has 3 tackles and 2 passes defensed from week 6-16 (not counting the Bills when only backups played) And I dont remember if he saw the field in the postseason, but didnt have a single tackle and or pass defensed in it. Dont get me wrong I think the guy is gonna be a legit corner within the next 2 seasons, but the guy never saw the field last year I dont know how you can say he was more than serviceable.
when you say that you mean like he didn't touch the field or that he didn't played because when he was on the field the opp QB didn't throw the ball to his side?
Wilson barely saw the field down the stretch of the regular season. Coleman was the third corner and Cole was the fourth. Lowery saw time as well.
"proved to be more than a 'halfway-serviceable' CB for us" That would be like me saying Joe Mcknight was more than a halfway serviceable HB for us last season because he tore shit up in Buffallo. It was a basically a preseason game that literally meant NOTHING, and our stars did not play in (and the ones who did did so for literally a series). Not to mention the opposing teams QB was someone was playing like what his second nfl game ever ? Im not saying he didnt play well in it, but playing well in what is basically a scrimmage doesnt make someone halfway-serviceable for THAT season. Again my point was not that Wilson was awful (which im quite sure I NEVER said), but that he almost never saw the fucking field dumbshit.
Wilson is clearly working out with Revis with the intent on improving off of last season, despite his non-existent time on the field to begin with. "Haters" need to accept this as a positive, and not a bashing.
i was referring to the bills game where he played well (granted it was the bills) and i forget whether he played significantly during the steelers game in the PS since I only watched it that one time, but he did have that PD and thinking back I thought that at the time I was feeling he'd had an alright game, but to be honest I don't really remember so I'm prolly wrong. Regardless you guys are correct in regards to his PT Still I think he'll be able to cut it as our #2 CB oppo Revis next year EDIT: omg I'm so bad at multi quoting. I'm sorry lol.
After one season guys are already writing him off, I think that itself is pretty fucking funny. I wish there was a way for Petro to make some sort of logic test that you need a certain score for you to be able to create an account and post. This shit is ridiculous.
thats what Jet gloom and doomer "fans" do. They wrote off Ferguson after his first season and Sanchez halfway through the 2009 season and every other Jet draft pick that didn't immediately make the all rookie team. There are thousands of posts whining about how Eric Smith and Brad Smith and Dwight Lowery should have been cut after their rookie years and were just complete busts in 2011 when Wilson is starting as nickel and Ducasse at RT and Conner at FB -- they'll be moaning and groaning that Wilkerson or Ellis or Powell are busts because they aren't immediate superstars. It's what Jet "fans" like Joe Benigno do we shouldn't be surprised by it after all these years
they are the polar opposite of patriot chowderhead fans go to patsfags.com you will read that every draft pick the pats have made since 2006 is a "STEAL OF THE DRAFT" and how BB is a genius for drafting all these great ones.. even though they have only 2 players remaining on the team from 2006 AND 2007 (and one of them is a kicker) and drafted not that much better in 2008 and 2009.
Kyle Wilson will be a ton better than last season. If Cromartie could tackle and liked to tackle then I think the Jets should keep him but its clear that he does'nt like head on contact. Give Cromartie a big contract and he won't even be the player he was last season. Wilson on the other hand is younger and want to improve and be a top corner and now has a great teacher. Wilson has the eye of the tiger right now. Cromartie is a baby sitter. Let Cromartie go.
Cromartie carried our defense while Revis was out and with a improved Wilson, Leonhard returning, and the overall improvement at the S position we saw at the end of the year, we should have a sick secondary. I agree Cro could be more physical throughout the entire year, but not every CB can be Revis either.
