There is no effect. The dead money still counts and is accelerated against the cap (assuming there is dead money at all this year.)

    Jenkins was a beast!

Loved Jenks...he made the D line as stout as any when he was healthy.

Anyone know if Ripati (I forget his last name...the huge dude that tore his ACL on hard knocks) is coming back to try it again this year?

    That's the one!

They should just let him play football on the golf cart. He'd be good for 20 more seasons.

Sorry to hear this, but it's far from unexpected. Enjoy retirement, Kris, and maybe we see you on SNY or somewhere.

It's been real Jenks. I never seen a D-Linemen in my lifetime smash motherfuckas the way he did. He was a wilder beast in the purest form.

    Big Jenks 4 Life!

This wasn't unexpected but it still caught me off guard.

Jenkins was an absolute joy to watch when he was healthy. I'll miss seeing him in the middle of our DL.

Trent Edwards can finally sleep at night.

    Happy retirement, big man.

One of my favorite defensive players the past couple years. He was an excellent team mate, absolutely dominant when he was healthy, intelligent, and he was totally a Rex Ryan kind of guy.

I just wish he could have stayed healthy. Hell of a guy... *salute*

As a fin fan, I dreaded games when big dude was in the middle. With our recent history of undersized centers, I always thought he would be the sole reason for multiple sacks and run stops behind the line. Pouncey should be elated to get this info becuz Jenkins was a force when healthy...

I'd love to see him replace Warren Sapp on Inside the NFL. Sapp is awful.

I can't wait for some idiot analysts to say how much of a huge blow this is to the Jets defense. You know it's coming.

Considering Jenkins went down in the 1st game last season.....whichever analyst makes that assumption, will look pretty stupid.

Yeah thanks for getting hurt every year. Fat boy. And wasting our cap space.
