We're all gonna look back on this thread next month and laugh when Tanny snatches up players and makes this team even better on paper. People were bugging last year with the Final Four rules but Tanny took those rules and wiped his ass with them.
THis is one funny post. You say trust in Tanny and everyone will be happy but only if we sign' the same players I am worried about losing. So If I am worried about signing our own players, I am a pussy. What does that make you? Face it fellas, we are just another offense without Holmes, we scare no one. And passing teams will eat us alive without another cover guy opposite Revis. What we did 2 years ago, has nothing to do with this year
If we lose 2 out of the 3...it's not the end of the world. We have a capable coaching staff, and Woody wants to win (so expect some dollars to be spent on Free Agents). This team is not without its own resources to be successful. Quit living in the past.
I am not living in the past. This is not the same old Jets crap. I love Mr. T, Rex and Woody. I don't start SOJ every time we lose. I stopped listening to Beningo for that reason. I just want to win a Super Bowl and I believe Holmes is the key offensive player, something we never had. I don't doubt that we will try to replace whoever we lose, no doubts about that. Holmes is not replaceable. Lets hope he stays with us, losing anyone else I can deal with, even Cro. What can I tell you, I get the feeling the guy hates Schotty after he did not start him in the Championship game
The Packers won the Super Bowl without Santonio Holmes, so he's obviously not needed in order to win a Super Bowl. Hell, we almost got to the Super Bowl in 2009 without Holmes.
We scored 9, 28, 31, and 38 points and went 3-1 without Holmes those first four games last year. Yeah, I don't want to lose Holmes either, but I'm not going to jump off a bridge if he does leave. We'll be fine, relax.
I think you're overreacting a bit. Holmes is a luxury player, he's not the key ingredient. Considering we reached the AFC championship the previous year without him. I'd like to keep him at a reasonable cost, but it sounds like he's more concerned with landing a big payday. That's fine, it's his career. But he's certainly replaceable....and Tanny is quite efficient in finding players by trade or FA.
First of all, if you read the title of the thread, it asks what you would do if all 4 leave. People seem to have the notion that anyone we lose cannot be replaced. Even if we lose Holmes, there will be a solution, it'll just be a lot tougher than replacing some other players. I don't think the team will just pack up and call it a day. Bottom line, we will certainly be better off keeping Holmes and Braylon. I'm not denying that. But if we lose one or both, I believe the front office will find a solution. Certainly for Cromartie. Rex Ryan is a genius at changing a scheme to adjust for defensive deficiencies. We supposedly had shitty pass rushers last year, yet look how well our defense fared. This is a resilient team and it starts with the coach. The Jets will be strong again because its a good organization now. This isn't a team that sits back and watches everyone else get better and throws in the towel when things don't go as planned. I can understand the tendency to give up when we lose someone, that's been the Jet way for decades. Not anymore. I can't imagine a scenario where we lose Braylon AND Holmes anyway. We'll keep at least one of them. I think anyone in here with a brain knows that we'll be better off keeping our 2 WRs. The difference between you and I is that I think we'll find a way to win if we don't keep them.
I hope you guys are correct because I expect him to take the money and run. Lets hope I am wrong and we sign everyone we want. If not, Mr. T signs there replacement and its all good. I will open up the blinds and let the sun in, but if it hurts, I am pulling the blinds down and going dark. And, please, don't ever compare me to Beningo. That dude is all about him and his poor Jet pain, I live in the present, shits been good ever since Tuna came in.
If Sanchez becomes playoff Sanchez in the regular season, then we'll be fine without Holmes. No one player makes or breaks you. Teams compensate in all sorts of ways, and getting hung up on skill position players is the easiest way to overreact. Guys improve, guys step up, and new stars emerge. The Pats found Welker from nowhere. Who knows who Sanchez will turn into a star when he develops.
I say "Let him go then"....the WR market is ripe with replacements for Holmes. The Jets can make a play for Sidney Rice or Plaxico Burress...or make a trade (Steve Smith from the Panthers has publicly asked to be dealt). Keeping Holmes would be ideal, especially where Mark's development/rapport with receivers is concerned....but the world won't end if Holmes takes off for a bigger payday somewhere else. We have other options.
Sanchez has not been below average.... The play calling has. That will change this year. Tom Moore being brought in as a consultant should lead to two things. Pass Plays that develop in less time then Ramadan. And north of 60% completion percentage. Get Sanchez at 63%, this team never leaves the field.
He'd be cheaper, but you get a downgrade of talent also. He's money on 3rd down, but he's pretty arrogant too...
I really don't understand how anyone thinks a 33 year old WR who's been in prison for 2 years is going to return in a lockout year in make an impact on this team. Its not going to happen. I don't get this dellusion about these veteran WRs and why people want them here.
probably break down, cry, lie in my bed while cradling myself in the fetal position for a couple of days, drink heavily, and finally accept it after a couple of weeks.
