Do you think Mathias Kiwanuka is better than any pass rusher we have now? or maybe Cullen Jenkins from GB? Im not saying that Julius peppers is out there but there is pass rushing talent available that is better than what we have now (not that thats saying much)
I guess you also missed the memo that Mike T is a salary cap genius and Sanchez is also willing to restructure for the better of the team. If Mario Williams hits the market next offseason, you better bet your bottom dollar that the Jets are going after Williams with guns blazing.
Oh god that would be as devastating as it is expensive... Right now I would prefer Mario over Nnamdi if he were available That being said MW will more than likely sign the biggest contract next off season and the Jets cant possibly have that kind of money if they sign Nnamdi Lets not forget Holmes' new contract and the new deal that has been long overdue for Harris But If anyone can do it Tanny can am i right?
Yeahhh id bet all my dollars that the Jets wont do that, ESPECIALLY if we have Aso. Hes a salary cap genius, not a fucking magician. And whats Sanchez going to do, restructure his contract so that he gets 1$ for the next couple of years then come out and get like 50 mill the last year of his contract? If you have Revis Aso and Williams tying up 40+ million a season between the 3 of them how the hell are you supposed to field a team ?
mario williams will be franchised if they cant sign him longterm no way houston lets him hit the open market
I wouldn't want to invest big money in Kiwanuka because he's coming off a pretty severe injury and doesn't have extensive experience playing standing up. I think Jenkins is gonna get overpaid badly and i'd rather use that money to re-sign Braylon
Well, Kiwanuka is a better pass rusher when compared to Bryan Thomas, but even when healthy; he's never been a better pass rusher than Calvin Pace. Kiwanuka has been in the league since 2006 with 23.5 sacks 222 tackles and 7 forced fumbles . Since 2006, Pace has put up 28 sacks, 358 tackles and 12 forced fumbles. I don't wanna hear how Kiw was hurt last season either, because Pace never became a starter until 2007 to begin with, and he's also missed 8 games over the past two years, and has still put up much better numbers when compared to Kiwanuka. With all that said... If not for Kiwanuka going down last year, I'd love to upgrade over Thomas with Kiwanuka playing opposite of Pace, but I'm not sure the gamble on Kiwanuka is worth it.
If he doesn't sign, I don't think it will be that big of a deal. I'm sure you'll find a quality CB. That said, having him is going to make your secondary scary. It also won't hurt with driving ticket sales, as I think it makes you the clear favorites to win the Super Bowl.
I'd kill somebody to have that type of D. Are you kidding... with Brady and Manning nearing the end of their careers the Jets could run rough shot over the NFL for years.
but we don't even know if mario williams can be a stand up pass rusher in a 3-4 yet....we have to watch and see this season....
For all of you crowing for Cro if the Asomugha sweepstakes doesn't happen....I can't wait for the eventual "I'm not feeling the love from upper management" tweet from Cromartie. Then he'll want the big contract to make up for being the 2nd option. I think Cro had a good season last year, but, and I don't like writing things like this (and frankly, surprised I'm the first) but the fact that last year was a contract year for him scares me. People in San Diego were ready to drive him to the airport themselves. I hope, if he stays here of course, he doesn't get complacent after getting his 8 million dollars a year.
I'm not worried at all about our pass rush. It's not like we were last in the league, we were tied for 8th in sacks. 3rd overall in defense, and we gave our line a huge injection of youth.
