He's very high on my list of Jets to bring back. He's the perfect example for rookies such as Muhammad Wilkerson and Kenrick Ellis to develope under/with during their first year in the league.

He's been with us for 11 years now, he's only missed 6 regular season games during his entire career, and he's also put up 208 tackles, 29 sacks and 6 forced fumbles during the regular season since switching to a 3-4 DE back in 2006. I can almost guarantee that you won't find a 3-4 defensive end that's been more productive than Ellis over the past 5 years. His time has to come to an end sooner rather than later, but I don't believe his time is up just yet.

As a 3-4 DE, Ellis has played in 7 playoff games since 2006, he's put up 23 tackles with 3 sacks, but more importantly? Over the years, he's been our only consistant leader on our defensive line. Unlike John Abraham and Kris Jenkins... We've always been able to count on Shaun Ellis showing up and bringing his tool box on Sundays.

He's been the heart of our defensive line, and I don't wanna see him go just yet, all because he just turned 34 years of age. Just look at what Ellis did against the Patriots. The man wants to win a ring, and I'm ready for another run with Ellis holding down the left side of our defensive line. I feel the new blood of Kenrick Ellis and Wilkerson could be a blessing for Ellis.

Over the past two years under Rex Ryan, the Jets defense has ranked top 5 during 2009 and last year. Who's been our only DE thats held down the left side of the line? Thats right, Shaun Ellis.

Dude none of us have any idea.... did you really have to make this a thread?

Wait until the other things get settled and then it will become more clear what happens with the Big Kat

Rumor is several teams are interested, but the Jets are still trying to lock him up.

I cant see Ellis going anywhere, hes close to retirement, not that he wont be good this year, but it may be his last. The only reason for him to even stay in the league is for one last run and hes been here his whole career.

To reiterate, hes not going anywhere.

Sorry, but Ellis will go down as one of my favorite Jets of all-time.

He's played with heart, guts, blood, sweat and tears over the past 11 years for the Jets and in my eyes... He deserves his own thread.

I know Aso is the 2nd best CB around, but it's pretty sad knowing that a career Raider can get his own thread... But a New York Jets living legend cant.

I think Ellis is like Big Wood, he only wants to play here. I think he comes back after Aso decides what he wants to do.

When all is said and done, I think Ellis, Eric Smith, and Brad Smith will all be back.

Well, I've heard reports of the Patriots going after Ellis. I've seen Coles, Thomas and Moss play for the Redskins... But I'm not sure I can handle watching Ellis play for the Patriots. He deserves one more run with us and he deserves to retire a Jet.

Well, just like I did with Leon Washington... I've given up all hope on Brad Smith. I'm pretty sure at least 10 teams would love to have Brad Smith on their roster. Eric Smith and Shaun Ellis I can see coming back, which I hope happens.

He has said he would re-sign here for less, and the Jets are really the best fit for him in the whole league. No one else will give him as many reps as a wr and in the wildcat as the Jets.

However, if he leaves, oh well. Westhoff makes everyone look good.

Agreed, the only way Brad Smith will still be on this team is if he comes out and says he isn't looking for a payday, which he hasnt. The Jets will not be the ones to give it to hm, Brad Smith is gone.

Eric Smith I can see returning but I dont really know whats going on with that, my gut tells me hell end up staying put.

Ellis, regardless of what teams are interested, they arent going to offer that much of a better deal and certainly not a better situation than the Jets will. Hes a team player, and knows we are on the verge, hes not gonna goi into a whole new world with new coaches and teamates for the last year maybe 2 of his career for a few extra dollars. ellis will be a Jet this year, its not even an issue.

It was a thread on here a few weeks ago. Basically said how he likes the situation here and would give a hometown discount to stay.

Ok, that post made me feel a lot better. Off to bed I go. I just started to freak out (in my own mind) when I read a report saying how the NE Patriots could look to sign Ellis for cheap. Made me sick. But after reading your post? I feel a lot better about our situation of having Ellis back in green and white this up coming season. You're right, he's been with the Jets for 11 seasons, he knows we're on the verge of something special (he's seen the turn-around first hand) and I can't picture him leaving for another team, when he's worked so hard to win a championship here for over a decade.

That I missed. But I'll take your word on it. Good news right there.
