Height: 6-4 Weight: 217 Age: 29 Born: 6/18/1982 Tampa , FL College: Ohio State Experience: 8th season Michael Jenkins has the size and produced the numbers similar to Edwards, but unlike Edwards many consider him a bust.... He's a 50 catch a season guy and has that size you want oposite Holmes. Knowing we will shoot our load on Aso, should we give a reach out to Jenkins? I think at this point Moss, Jenkins and possible TO should be considered. After A$$mugha gets don't we will be on the brick of CAP hell. Year - Receptions - Yards 2010 - 41 - 505 2009 - 50 - 635 2008 - 50 - 777 2007 - 53 - 532
i dont hate the idea. Obviously Braylon is preferred. But Jenkins would be cheaper. I still am not sure we could get Aso and jenkins... and if we don't get Aso, we need to lock up Braylon. To be honest, I am very interested to see what Braylons deal ends up being (wherever he ends up) I can't see him getting 8 million a year... Stay the hell away from TO. He is a cancer, done and to top it off coming off an ACL that won't be ready for a while... If you want an aging malcontent who once was a star, call Moss.
I've seen so much of this guy over the years -- flashes of brilliance, and stone handed drops -- If we can get him at a good price, I think he'd be a good addition.
hes not a version of braylon, but he is a cheaper wr option ... i wouldnt be against it as a camp depth signing but im eager to see what pat turner can do entering his third year
I still want Edwards. Nmandi is a huge prize but I still think Cro + Edwards is greater than NA + ?WR? Just my opinion...
The one thing everyone says is "stone hands", which is exactly the same thing they were saying about Edwards when we traded for him. I feel he would be just behind an much older Moss as an aption if we sign Aso.
Edwards also had a pro-bowl season with a mediocre QB before he got here. Edwards was a much more proven commodity than Jenkins. Hell, Jenkins isn't an option for my fantasy team, let alone the team I root for.
Braylon has the ability to make big plays, Jenkins is just big. I never really got the little hype Jenkins recieved. He's not that good. I'd pass.
this guy is never talked about when it comes to the Falcons. He's more a forgotten or hidden name. Edwards is better an he is a stronger lokerroom presense. I wouldn't be opposed to the idea but he's just ehh.
jenkins isnt bad, but i dont see the big play ability.... i wouldnt mind it, but id prefer someone like james jones, who can really stretch the field
I agree. Jones would be a good "fall back" option for the JETS pending how things turn out. Big play potential, but also some bad drops...... he has the talent/ speed though.
Edwards puts up the same stats each year and had the same knock on him. Braylon had one very good year and that was it. They both have put up similar numbers the last three years and both dropped many passes. Considering Edwards is looking for top dollar and Jenkins coud be had for mid range to lower range money, if we sign aso Edwards won't be an option. So the question is more of would you rather have a Randy Moss with his attitude and his taking off plays or a Jenkins who just never had a very good year. At this point in there careers they aren't that much different. Just to add Edwards stats to show they are similar to Jenkins.....I will admit Edwards has more BIG play ability and yards, but he would cost 2x or 3x more money that we might not have. Braylon Edwards Height: 6-3 Weight: 214 Age: 28 Born: 2/21/1983 Detroit , MI College: Michigan Experience: 7th season Year - Reception - Yards 2010 - 53 - 904 2009 - 45 - 780 2008 - 55 - 873 I'm not wanting Jenkins, just saying he is available, we have a need and as time goes on the available receivers is dropping. The mid-range receivers are being signed leaving slim pickings. Hell, maybe Stuckey comes back to the Jets....
RARGHHHHH can people stopp mentioning this. Cro and Edwards is more expensive then nnamdi and some wr
It's becoming more clear to me every day that there really isn't a viable alternative to Edwards, outside of maybe Malcolm Floyd, who I think Minnesota might overpay. I think our best bet is to bring back Braylon, warts and all. A lot of these other guys are classic overpays, and I'd rather get a guy who has some familiarity with the offense, especially considering the short time table. There is a lot of value in that. -X-
