Not desperate, but when your number 1 TE has shaky hands, sucks at blocking, and is not very good, it never hurts to sign a guy who is still a solid TE.
Rex injured Heap when he gave him a bearhug. Sorry but as a repeated fantasy owner of Heap, I'm not anxious to see him sign with the Jets but who knows.
He'll be the #2 option after Keller. I wouldn't be thrilled about the signing but it's not that high of a risk.
I'm a bit surprised Heap's interested in being a 1A TE here when he could be the clear 1 TE somewhere else. Then again the market doesn't seem to be going anywhere for TE's and Heap does have a connection with Rex.
true, but i can take the gamble because when he was a raven...He was their primary target...We will have Keller and Heap, Tone and Plax. No more safety's frequently targeting Heap in bunches
He can't go FT anymore. More recently, he had head injuries, which is never good. If he's cheap, it's worth a shot.
I wouldprefer Zach Miller but heap is (was) great DK isnt done developing yet so This should help him i would hope
Heap would be a good addition. Two TE sets can be very effective and pose match up problems..... Not sure how much he has left in the tank, but he has produced throughout his career.
Between Heap and Plax, I'm guessing Tanny is making a push to at least get the pieces in place to improve on the Jets' redzone offense. What were we, 30th in the league last year?
What's odd about Holmes having the best skillset to play in the slot? Plenty of teams line up their #1 receiver there (see: Steve Smith, Wes Welker.) If you've got speed and can run precise routes, it's the best place to find a mismatch. I love the idea of bringing in Heap by the way. We can afford to take a risk on an injury prone guy when he's going to be a platoon player anyway. Plus, "The Stormin' Mormon" is one of the best nicknames in the league
