Yeah, I don't have a problem with what he said. He's not Brady, but not nearly as bad (or mediocre) as people say either. At least half of the picks he threw last year bounced off his receivers hands--dude was snakebitten last year. Couple that with 2 running backs who fumble every other carry and the offense suddenly looks inept. He earned all the respect and cred he'll ever need for that amazing 2007 playoff run, imho. The guy has stupid-face, but he's still pretty fucking good
He isnt as good as Brady, but he won a superbowl, and is a superbowl MVP. I have no problem with what he said. I would of thought he was a pussy, if he said he wasnt on the level of Brady.
He's forever going to have a chip on his shoulder knowing that despite being a former Superbowl MVP he'll never even be the best quarterback in his family.
He actually got better(until last year) since the SB- MUCH better and he was never close to the top 5 at any point in his career.
He wasn't as bad as his INT total suggests he was last year. Giants receivers had stone hands in 2010.
They all count, sometimes receivers make great catches on bad throws and sometimes they drop easy ones that turn into INTs. It all evens out.
Eli Manning has shown that he can be the quarterback of a playoff football team. He's shown the ability to elevate his team and the ability to sink his team. I would say that he's nothing more than an above average NFL quarterback. As I see it, for the most part, his mechanics break down under pressure, and he does a bad job of protecting the football. -X-
People put way too much stock into this winning crap. The Giants won that game due in part to Manning's incredible escapability, but he didn't go out there and hang up 60 points in a head to head matchup with the league's best offense and singlehandedly best Brady to give his team the victory. That would have been a situation where credit would be given where credit was due. He simply showed up and did what Eli Manning does. He didn't have a Phil Simms Super Bowl. Remember, Neil O'Donnell lead some very winning teams. We all saw how that worked out. -X-
He played really well that postseason inclduing leading a game winning drive int he final minute in the SB. They don't win w/o him/
Normally, I agree but last year for Eli it did not. Too many tip drills of good passes. I think his strong arm cost him more than it helped him at least last year anyway. I have no problem with what he said. I even hope he believes it but he is no Brady! He's solid to above average.
+1...There's tip balls that go both ways for every QB, junc...but Eli's incompetent receivers did not have an even give and take whatsoever
Some of those throws were too high or too hard, it was tooe asy just to put all the blame on the WRs. Some were the WRs fault, others were Eli's fault.
Id put Eli in the top 15. He might be able to break into top 10 but he is definitely not top 5. And most the Giants fans I know don't think he was the reason they won the SB it was the defense under Spags.
To be an elite QB you have to show consistency to always play near or at your best. Eli when he plays at his best could surely be in that top tier. However, he's so inconsistent and when he's not playing his best, he can be downright awful. This is why he's not an elite QB.
