The city is filled with on-the-fence fans. 2007 was a long time ago as far as they're concerned, so the Jets are definitely generated a lot more buzz in the Big Apple.
Grow some balls...The Giants have had their run- it's a new era. If you can't see that maybe we have to get "I Heart Brandon Jacobs" tattooed on your ass.
SOJF SOJF SOJF My god I cant wait until we eventually win one so that guys like you can shut the hell up...
If the Jets beat the Giants on Xmas Eve the injury excuse is already lined up. Then they'll take about 3 VLTs and how AFCCG don't mean shit ad nauseum. If the Jets win the superbowl this year a lot of this bullshit will be put to rest.
its not SOJF, I just want a T-shirt at the end of year that says 20-- champions, that I still do not have.
I hate to say it, but I agree with the aforementioned SOJF's. Until the Jets have as many Superbowl wins, it's a Giant's town. That's not even bringing into the discussion NFL championships. They are a moot point since the JEts weren't even a thought then. The Jets definitely have more to be excited about right now, though, and the Giant's season is looking worse by the day (which I fucking love.) Let this be the year where they take that step towards getting more SB's. All they need is 2 and I'll never call NY a Giant's town again...
Past championships have nothing to do with whose town this is. Will the Empire State Building be lit up in green and white more often this season? Will Modell's feature more Jets' gear over Giants' gear? Who will the local sports shows spend more time discussing? This is currently a Jets' town because the majority of New Yorkers only care about sports when one team can possibly win a title.
The "who's town" bullshit swings with the stock of each team. The Jets never have had this strong of buzz since the late 60s, so its now "their town" The Giants have had the buzz in the LT days, the 2000 SB run, and with Eli/Tiki/Strahan. So yes, the Giants have had more success. But the papers will go with the team that sells more papers, and thus will claim its "their town" However, its best not to buy into this bullshit, seeing that its purely a form of silly media entertainment.
If the Jets are 2-2 and the Giants 4-0 it'll be their town again. Then when the Jets are 6-2 and the Giants are 4-4 it'll be the Jets town. Yawn.
The town is owned by the team who gets the most ink in the papers and I don't think there is any doubt who that is.
