Good. Should have been cut two years ago. Maybe we'll actually find someone who doesn't run around like my grandfather.

I agree he was a waste of space in our LB corps but Westerman is GARBAGE. This will hurt.

the people who are saying BT sucks....

do you guys even pay attention to what's going on on defense?

    seriously.

BT was the single biggest beneficiary and most improved jet under the rex ryan regime. that's the reason he's actually still here and most of the other previous jets aren't

BT is a reason why the Jets have/had defense that could stop the run.

Yes, he's a marginal pass rusher.

He was solid against the run but was pretty useless in the Pass-Rush. I'm still not happy about this though, don't get me wrong.

This sucks. He is ALOT better then Westerman. You guys underrate how much of a good motor and toughness BT had.

He admitted he took plays off constantly after his contract extension.

    He's a good run stopper.

He's a so-so pass rusher, but actually decent covering the flats, and was very good for the most part setting the edge on run plays and doing the dirty work to let guys like David Harris rack up a ton of tackles.

I don't think Westerman is going to be able to hold up at all as his replacement. He just isn't as strong at the point of attack as BT. This will hurt our run defense for sure.

    Its the shitty truth.

Westerman was always this close to a sack in the preseason. But clearly it hasn't been that way in 4 games.

He's gotta step the fuck up.

This is a tough loss but it's not like we lost D'Ware or something. Thomas is a really solid player and the Jets will have to rotate Westerman, Mauga, Maybin and maybe a surprise in some fronts to make up for his production.

I'd love to see Wilkerson get some standup snaps down the road but not against Brady and the Pats tight ends.

BT is a very good run stopper and solid cover guy, but a sub-par pass rusher for what we need.

This will really test our depth. We can afford to lose him if the backups step up. Thomas's production is replaceable, but if the backups aren't up to par, it could be a big loss.

I'm hoping Westerman/Mauga/McIntyre/Maybin will step up and combine to do what Thomas did. Those LBs really haven't had much of a chance to show what they can do in real games. It's really hard to know whether they can do the job as well as we need them to or not.

They need to bring that German dude back. He looked like Clay Matthews in pre-season.

Bt never got the respect he deserved. He wasn't flashy but he was solid and that's not a bad thing.I wish him the best.

Thomas' role is no longer as a pass rusher. He sets the edge and makes plays on the run. That being said he still got a lot of sacks despite that not being his role. This is a big loss, but I have confidence that Westerman can step up.

Not just the Jets, the entire NFL and that is exactly what was expected with an abbreviated camp and no minis. Achilles, ham strings and quad injuries. I would think the pansy weekly practices aren't helping either.

Exactly. And these pansy practices aren't going to help our running game either. The league is turning into a pussy league real quick.

he has more than likely played his last game for the jets and maybe the career.....

gotta admit he ended being a solid player; one of the few that benefitted from the 2 coaching changes (mangini and ryan).

edwards/bradway seriously whiffed on their initial projection of a speed rushing end opposite abraham but thats how it goes.

IMO linebacker, day 1 talent linebacker, has been a need for a few years now. not just for depth but to upgrade the speed/talent. even if the ghost had panned out. the positions have been filled mostly by FA and we have to get out of that cycle for the most important positions of this D.
