I hate to be a downer on a winning week where I'm extremely proud of the Jets but, I'm watching Jacksonville kill baltimore right now and I'm really impressed with Lowery's play. He's turned into a hard hitter and he had a sack. He could have been good coupled with Wilson Revis and Cro. That could have been deadly.
I saw Lowery commit a penalty for 50 yards and give up a touchdown (the Ravens only play that didn't suck all game). Seems like not too much has changed.
How did i know someone was going to start a thread tonight titled either Dwight Lowery or Drew Coleman
Both did OK for the Jets. Both are doing well for the Jags. Both didn't fit here anymore-- Coleman because he got paid too much, and Lowery because he wasn't gonna get any burn. Shit happens.
Although at first that looked like blatant interference, when you see the replay you'll see that Tory Smith actually initiated contact and pushed Lowery away. Problem was that Lowery's arms were more exposed when Lowery fought back making it look like D PI On another note what are we getting for Lowery again? A 4th?
what's next Bring back Alan Faneca and Jay Feely threads? I rewatched the Jet-Miami game recently and, aside from making an ass of himself with his Revis interference crying and his call for replay of every play, Gruden distinguished himself by claiming that the Jets (during the first half) really missed the greatness of Faneca, Thomas Two Yards Jones, T-Rich, Woody and Sean Ellis in 2011 even he didn't go as far as longing for those two "automatic first down on third down pass plays" superstars Lowery and Coleman
I thought Lowery did a very nice job for us in the playoffs last year. We were a mess after a very mediocre Leonard went down and Lowery stepped in and stepped up. As our OL gets healthy, our Safties maybe the biggest glaring hole on this team right now.
I think that is debatable on a few counts, not the least of which is I think both starting safeties played very well against SD. Biggest glaring hole in my book so far this season was lack of bench strength on the OL. Failure of the front seven to seal the edge on run D is another.
I think both your points are good and correct. That being said, if Lowery could have made the proper adjustment to FS, he would have filled our "coverage safety" hole. He's got corner speed but just isn't big enough to bring down backs that get to the second level. So as others said - he didn't fit here anymore.
