Just looking at our D-Line right now, it’s really hard not to be excited. They are young and massive. I love the rotation and have confidence in each of them.

Biggest surprise so far has been Marcus Dixon. He has been rock solid. I have enjoyed watching Wilkerson but at times he makes mistakes. DeVito and Pouha are solid consistent players. Ellis looks like he has a HUGE upside. MTV Martin Traveseau and Ripoti Pitoitua are two young monsters.

    Muhammad Wilkerson 22 / 6’4 – 315
    Mike DeVito 27 / 6’3 – 305
    Sione Pouha 32 / 6’3 – 325
    Marcus Dixon 27 / 6’4 – 295
    Kenrick Ellis 23 / 6’4 – 346
    Martin Traveseau 24 / 6’2 – 325
    Ripoti Pitoitua 26 / 6’4 – 315

The D-Line's youth and athleticism has been refreshing to watch this year.

    (Ropati is 6-8, not 6-4)

Big deal they don't provide a pass rush.

Muhammad Wilkerson 22 / 6’4 – 315 : Has long arms, good hands and feet, but no upper body strength whatsoever. Needs to greatly improve his upper body strength to reach his potential. Apparently the Jets missed that he did the same about of bench press reps as RB Delone Carter.

Mike DeVito 27 / 6’3 – 305 : Unathletic but has good iq (he's white) and takes up space. Decent player.

Sione Pouha 32 / 6’3 – 325 : Almost the opposite of Wilkerson. He can push the pile but his lower body strength is severely lacking. Therefore he is slow and runs like he has doodoo in his pants.

    Marcus Dixon 27 / 6’4 – 295 : Best all-around lineman right now

Kenrick Ellis 23 / 6’4 – 346 : Beast. Should be starting with Dixon asap.

    Martin Traveseau 24 / 6’2 – 325 : Who?

Ripoti Pitoitua 26 / 6’4 – 315 : Complete garbage and waste of roster space. Never makes plays. Runs like Pouha only taller and stiffer. His sole sack was a complete and utter coverage sack.

Altogether this line is pretty mediocre. Grade C-

Pretty happy with the group overall. Was hoping Ropati could provide a little more pass rush ability then he has shown so far. As Ellis gets more time I'm hoping he might be able to help collapse a few pockets from time to time. You gotta hope he can settle this case against him. As time goes by I find myself getting more pessimistic about his chances.

This... is so far off... I'm not sure how to respond. Pouha is a rock in the middle for us, mainly due to his ability to be a force thats hard to move and can take up two blockers on running plays. He brings next to nothing on passing downs, but his main asset is his strenght to hold the middle of the line and he's very, very good at it.

The rest of you views into out line is about what you would expect from someone named cynic or what you would expect from somone who does nto understand the job each indiviual has in the base front we run.

I'm going to have to disagree with you Murrell when it comes to Marcus Dixon.

He was awesome in preseason when playing against the 2nd string but in regular season games he's been a liability against the run.If the o-line get a double team on him then it;s an automatic 5 yard + gain.I like his hustle and he's not bad against the pass, but he's part of the reason why we're so bad against the run.

    I've never met a self-proclaimed cynic that wasn't really a pessimist.

As time goes by? The guy has only played in a couple of games - seems a little early to be pessimistic...

You mean 20 snaps max as a rookie. Lol yeah definitely write him off as trash.

Some of the opinions on young players is so absurd it makes ones head explode.

Really just a bad analysis of our D-line top to bottom.

Dixon is our best lineman? Pouha has no lower body strength? Runs like he has doodoo in his pants?? Pitoitua is garbage and a waste of a roster spot? Wilk has no upper body strength?

I don't know why you think you are an expert on upper or lower body strength of these players, or if you even understand what our D-linemen are supposed to be doing on the field, but you should probably not embarrass yourself further.

Our D Line is built for the post season. It may not look pretty now but come post season when we have all 7 starting caliber d linement still active and rested/tested with a whole season under their belt, they will do work.

Dline is amazingly average to below average

Ellis, and amazingly enough Maybin are the only ones who show signs of one day not being average

Jury is still out on wilkerson

Pouha and Devito are 2 victims of the rex ryan hype machine

Pitoitua has amazing size and strength but i dont know why he hasnt shown up as a factor in the run stopping game (maybe just needs more playing time)

    everyone else is below average

I guess its expected with someone named Cynic. The comic relief was nice. You might want to head back to JI or fagheaven...

Thank goodness you have not made judgement on Wilkerson yet, after all, most players are at their peak after playing 7 games in the NFL.
