The reason I voted for Schotty, at least a few skill position guys under Hackett did enough to earn pro-bowl slots. Coles even broke the Jets single-season receiving record under Hackett, Richie Anderson was a pro-bowler at FB for his pass catching instead of his blocking. That's results, however bland it may have looked at the time. Does anybody here think any of our WRs or RBs will ever make the pro bowl in this offense? Does anybody think if Hackett had this offense, we wouldn't have won a few more games this season? He was boring, but consistent, and made the most of what he had. Schotty has taken an offense with much more potential than Hackett ever had and made it look horrible.

Hackett was bad, but the problem with saying he was worse than Schotty is that the Jets were never true SB contenders when he was here. With Schotty, they have been, or were supposed to be, for 3 years now. So, his inability to lead the offense has been worse to me.

    2002 and 2004?

The 2004 team was the most legit superbowl contender of the past decade to me. Above average to great players in all the key areas of the team. Chad had already begun frustrating people but he was still physically arable of being a top QB.

2002 was weird because they were the hottest team in the league after chad took over and the offense looked explosive.

    this...

we have one of the most talented teams in the league. We should be much better than we are. However, our offense last year and the year before was much better than it is this year, that may be due to all the players we lost this season (Woody, Braylon, T.Rich, etc)

So Drew Brees isn't an elite QB, or was it Schotty's offense in San Diego that held him back? C'mon, man...

schotty was QB coach in SD. Sure he had some say in how the O was run, but it wasnt all his call. Also Brees wasnt elite until his NO days with Sean Payton anyways.

Incorrect. He was average at best his second to last year (hence the drafting of Phillip Rivers) and great his last year there, but he busted up his knee I believe, or was it his shoulder? Prompting the Chargers to definately move on to rivers and let brees walk

Schotty is just more frustrating then anything..Hackett was bad for the most part outside of the 2002 season.

Brees was good in 2004 and 2005. They only got rid of him because they already invested all that money into Rivers.

Hate to break it to you but this offense is not that talented. Greene is not an every down back, Plax is okay but not what he used to be, Sanchez is a below average QB, Keller isn't feared by most defenses, and LT is a shell of his former self. The only really good weapon we have on O is Holmes. This offense is what it is. Im not sure what kind of improvements people are expecting with the clear lack of talent on the offense. Not even gonna mention how pathetic Wayne Hunter is as well...Schotty sucks but even with a new offensive coordinater, im just not seeing that much of a difference in this offense with the current personnel.

schotty was a skills coach in sd so its irrevelant what happened, it wasnt his gameplan.

schotty is worse because although hacket was incredibly unimaginative, i didnt feel like he was actively trying to sabotage the team. hacket was so plain that a guy like schotty comes along and we think its the greatest thing ever, mostly beacuse we arent used to seeing the jets try to get creative, but much like the film industry, they have fallen into the trap that if its complex then it must be good.

    Really poorly designed poll.

There should just be 2 answers. Save the caveats for the discussion.

Hackett was by far worse than Schotty

They drafted Rivers in 2004 which was Brees' second to last year there. Brees threw 27 tds and 7 ints. 05 was his last year and he threw 24 tds and 15 ints. He hurt his shoulder but I think sd was commited to Rivers at this point.

    Average rank as Jets OC:

    Hackett ('01-'04)
    Pts: 18
    Yds: 19.25

    Schotty ('06-'11)
    Pts: 16.333
    Yds: 20

Obviously both had mediocre results. Schotty's offenses seem slightly better at closing the deal.
