I know it wasnt pretty, but thats the most points the RedSkins defense has given up. Our blue brothers only scored 14 and the Bills managed 19. More than both combined.
A lot of the points were in garbage time. One td was set up on the 9 yard line. Hard be happy with that after we were losing up until the last few minutes of the game.
Another non-believer. How pathetic. They score 34 points and it's not valid since it came in garbage time????? The came was still on the line when almost all of those points were scored. Pathetic.
Hard to be happy? The Jets were 1-8 all time against the Redskins, facing a potent pass rush and a strong running game and we won by 15. That's a strong performance no matter how you rub it. It was only 'garbage time' if you consider that we had already done well enough to win the game, so you should be happy regardless.
Wow seriously. I love that we won and we scored the go ahead TD with 5 minutes left. Also the great play by Maybin to get the ball back on the 9. Also after that Greene broke a long run. The score and the points we put up was not a sign at all of how our offense played and how close this game really was. For the most part the Skins defense played very well and I dont really see it as us blowing them out as the score would indicate. The last TD was garbage time.
No matter how you rub it they are 1-6 in their last 7 games. We came within 5 minutes of losing. It was not a strong performance at all on offense.
We were never going to lose. We didn't 'come within five minutes of losing'. We had the ball and were going to score. They didn't score or even threaten a TD after their first drive.
Washington is similar to the Jets, so bad on offense their defense gets worn down from being on the field and finally break, giving up game winning drives. I don't know how good Kyle Shanahan is as an OC but if they get a competent QB they will turn it around quickly.
You're right it was more like 7 and a half minutes. Don't get me wrong we did what we had to on the road and closed the game out very well. All I'm saying is if we are playing a better team we need to play better. The touchdown to Santonio was great and that was all we needed. The touchdowns after that was set up by the D and the last one was garbage time. The score was not indicative of how well we played. If we are going to make it to or win in the playoffs we need to step our game up.
Do you not remember exactly the same thing last year against Cleveland, Houston (worst pass defence in history) and Detroit last year? Not to mention the late losses to NE (by 40-odd points) and Chicago (who destroyed our defense in week 16). We can't get too low based on regular season play, so long as we win.
For sure. Its all about getting to the playoffs. Tim Tebow proves winning any way is all that counts. Im just saying as far as this thread saying its the most points on the Redskins defense is a little deceptive. One of the touchdowns was a 9 yard drive and the last one came in garbage time. I couldn't care less because regardless we won I'm just saying the Skins actually played a lot better D then the score would indicate.
4 in 12 drives. Pittsburgh had 3 in 11 drives today (won 35-7). New England had 3 in 9 drives (won 31-24). Giants had 3 in 12 drives (lost 38-35). The idea that a few 3 and outs means that the offense had a terrible day is ridiculous.
How is it garbage time when the Redskins were trying their best to stop the Jets and get the ball back? Garbage time would be where Redskins D goes in to a prevent D to prolong drives, not where they play the run and still give up couple of rushing TDs towards the end.
I just mean it didnt effect the game. We were 1 first down away from just taking a kneel. It was an unnecessary TD. I'm just trying to say the 34 points doesn't indicate how well the Redskins D did because we kind of just piled it on at the end of the game when the Skins were playing wreckless trying for big plays and TOs. Not trying to take anything away from Greene's run.
