    relatively unimportant IMO

the Jets have a high quality starting quarterback in Mark Sanchez who will be their starter for many years

not overly concerned who the cheap backup/kick holder is to back up McElroy

isn't Brady Quinn a UFA this off-season? I feel like someone like him is the most likely to accept a back-up role and could still have some upside/potential

Yeah, totally reasonable to pencil in a guy who's played exactly TWO pre-season games as the back-up.

Teams that might, possibly, consider Orton as starter and the guys he'd be competing with...

    Dolphins (Moore, Henne, draft pick?)
    Browns (McCoy)
Jags (maybe, if they feel Gabbert isn't ready)
    Redskins (Beck, Grossman, draft pick?)
    Buccaneers (pretty unlikely)
    Seahawks (Jackson, draft pick?)

    Where's that guaranteed starting job?

He has a 0% chance of starting in NY week 1 barring injury. He can easily win any of those jobs you mentioned

    Don't think so.

Browns - Unlikely to supplant McCoy as starter at the beginning of the season unless his head's still spinning.

Bucs - Wouldn't have a snowball's chance in Hell of supplanting Freeman as starter at the beginning of the season. Dude hasn't fallen THAT far.

Jags - Could start at the beginning of the season, but where's the security in signing with a team that has committed to a young QB as the long term solution?

Seahawks - Could be a fit.

Redskins - Could be a fit, although it seems likely the 'Skins are looking for a more significant upgrade than Orton can provide.

'Phins - Could be a fit, but it's very possible the 'Phins will opt to re-sign Moore and/or make a big move in the draft or free agency.

Again, where's the guaranteed starting job?

Yeah totally abandon the qb that led us to the afc champs two years in a row and then was one game away from the playoffs this year. At this point the only way id lose complete faith in Sanchez would being last in the division with a new oc next season.

Sorry for the hijack, but the thought just crossed my mind:

When McElroy blew up the locker room everyone was saying he had no business due to his stature on the team and that a VET should have raised hell all season long.

This 'vet/leader' SHOULD have been Mark Fucking Brunell.

Ain't this the vet guy we brought in to show a very young Dirty how to lead and run a team????????????

Brunell was in the locker room, all the meetings, and on the field every day and saw EXACTLY what was going on with Tone and others.

Brunell should'a grabbed the O by the throat and shook it hard, if only to show Dirty how it's supposed to be done.

    /rant.

I would love to bring in David Garrard. He is a better QB than Camp-Orton (hyphneated b/c they are ridiculously comparable to each other).]

He brings lots of questions, however, especially following a surgery and year out of the NFL for recovery. From a Jag fan site:

Being that he is a giant "?", it would behoove us to bring him in along with one of those other guys if not both.

I didn't see you included Tampa Bay, yeah he won't win that. He has a greater chance at winning those than he does in New York. I know Sanchez didn't throw any real TDs this year but he's making way too much money to not start.

Whoever it is, it better not be Brunell, again. I'm getting tired of giving this has-been any more charity. Mark Sanchez had no pressure from the 2nd string this year, and this must not be the case going into next year. We need hungry, young talent to push Sanchez and signing has-beens doesn't help competition. Sanchez must get into his head that, if he continues to throw games away, his job is in jeopardy. I got the feeling he knew his job was his to keep, regardless of what he did.

    Here's the thing

You really can't expect a high profile player to do this in public, especially Brunell, who needs the $$$

Remember this "revelation" came from a very low-profile source who was probably under the assumption that his words would never get back to NY

The reality is, the Jets problems got exposed at the end of the season, and that's probably the best time, if there is such a thing, because now they have the whole off-season to fix properly, rather than patch up the team mid-season.

This way, the Jets were alive all year, instead of disintegrating into a 4-12 team/
